Here is my Google +

The Collection of Photos from the Build

If you want to see my log of how I built it (It's at the bottom on the Overclock.net Link)

Wanted to build a computer on the X99 Platform to showcase Building skills and Create a computer ready for 2160p. Tons of Modifying and painting, Started to collect parts in Nov. Changed Orange due to a possible conflict with the Solder in the Rads, Orange was turning to dark. Went with Blue Pastel to symbolize Intels Colour, and Green for Nvidia Colour.

I have Dual loops due to not wanting heat from one Component affecting the Other.

Temps as of Now:

Test Run on Ambients of 26.6c (80f) Realbench 2.4 30min Stress Test

Max Temp on Cores ( 62C) Max Temp on Top Card was 45C (Bottom Card was 43C)

5930k Overclocked to 4.25Ghz (125 Strap x 34 Multi) Using 1.2Core V XMP Enabled for Corsair Dom Plat 4 x 4Gb Sticks @ 2666Mhz Evga 980 Superclocked (1366Mhz top Clock factory Speed) Top Card In Loop Evga 980 SC (Bottom Card in Loop)

After Playing The Witcher 3 for Over 7 Hours Straight:

Max Temp on Cores were 55C Max Temp on (Top Card) 50C Max Temp on (Bottom Card) 45C

I need to re-seat the Top GPU in the waterblock, the thermal paste didn't spread good obviously. I should only have a 2C difference inbetween the top and bottom card.

Gpus are Run in Parallel. Named Build "The Division" For Tom Clancy's Game that is postponed until 2016 Now.

Entire Build Log Can be found On Overclock.net. The Link to Go there

The Cautious One

The First computer I built was 2 years Go I think in June of 2013 that I rebuilt a couple times when I started looking into watercooling. Quite the Journey.

This computer was quite a trip to build and took quite a while since each part was expensive. I had to work and ration away 500$ here and 1000$ there but we did it. I got every part I wanted and left nothing to spare.

Current FPS at 1440p on Ultra with everything on The Witcher 3 is 60FPS average. 70FPS here and 50FPS there. But average is 60FPS which is great. I think that If I went 2160P I would need another 980 for 3way sli.

After 7 hours of gaming the Max Core temp on processor was 55C and Ambients were 26.6C. If the ambients were to drop to.... 21C (70F) then my max temps would drop around 5C

Mr. Manirelli. I appreciate the Kind words. Pcpartpicker is the Site I used and still use to gather my thoughts before beginning a build and logging parts in order to see the money spent!

Glad you Finally Popped in one of my builds. Always a pleasure.

Damn Son... Plus 1

I am still trying to figure out how one would do a dual loop in a case that is NOT a 900D or a Caselabs, every build I see is one of those. Like how white is the new red :D

How did you do the hard tubing?

Artimaeus
  • 9 years 10 months ago

Do you mean generally speaking "How To Hard Tubing"? Or how did he do his specifically. If the former, https://youtu.be/y2yZsIzHYdg

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

I am sorry I didn't see this comment earlier. To have dual loops in an Case you will need the Space. The DDC pumps I am using are very small and can be mounted in a ton of places (120mm Fans or Radiators for example) The Loop will need your imagination as well as patience.

by the way i notice you said you only get 60 FPS in witcher 3. I dont know if you know this but they actually capped the FPS in the game. If you ever watch JayzTwoCents on youtube you can see he has 3 way titan x and gets 60 FPS lol. he even explains how it was a bad port from console to PC.

Thecautiousone

THe Setting for FPS in game menu are set to ULTD and NO Vsync. My FPS are actual In game. I fluxuate from 65 - 75 FPS No FPS cap.

I wouldn't jump for it unless you: A) have money to blow(clearly shown here but I assume you simply saved up) B) Need the Power C)BRAGGING RIGHTS

You have enough with this rig though...

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

Ill pass on the TI for now. I still need to see something that will consistently push 60FPS at 2160p. The Ti's won't do it.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

I am, Crazy that I use it to game and browze the Net eh? The Witcher 3 Runs better with an Overclocked Processor. Think of this, Running TW3 at Stock Settings on the 5930k yeilded around a 35% to 50% utilization of the Processor. Overclocking the Processor to 4.25Ghz - Now TW3 uses 15% - 30% of the Cores.

Great Build! I Was Just Wondering If This Watercooling Setup Is An Option For The Z97 Platform?

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

This watercooling is Hand assembled and made by Me. The Platform matters not. You would just need a waterblock for the processor that fits the Socket Type (1150, 1155, Etc)

XCNCTX
  • 9 years 10 months ago

Ah Ok Thanks.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

  • 9 years 10 months ago

I am still new to water loop and this is my first time seeing dual loops.

Superbly nice!! definitely +1 for me.

BTW, I don't think Witcher 3 run well at Ultra setting. Do you have some black screen or crash?

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

It's the Game. I have a black screen every once in a while. It's not because it's on ultra thats for sure. Some people have probs, others do not. It is very inconsistent at this point.

Next patch is 1.05 and I am used GOG to get it for free with one of my 980s. So I don't have to use something to run the program. Just launches off of the Computer.

TCO

Glad you got to see a proper Dual Loop :)

ck6ng
  • 9 years 10 months ago

Yea. Maybe the game is still very new and there is bug to be fixed.

You make me want to rebuild my desktop with the dual loop.. but my bank account has not enough digit.. =/

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

My bank account didn't either, Not all at once. Get a part here and there. The Case and Loop first. Then you buy the parts to fill it up.

Thecautiousone

Well I was able to snag the 5930K for 450$ , It was one of the last ones from a seller on Amazon so that was already 20% or so off of the original price of 550$. I couldn't pass it up and No games at this point use 6 cores you know?

I spray painted it after I masked off the PCI slots and CPU socket. Then I went back and did touch up paint with acrylic paint and a paintbrush. I will link you to the process I have in the log.

Here you go

This is really the most beautiful build on the entire site!

Congratulations, Thecautiousone!

About the components:

  • Cooling Logic and Case - Great. For some strange reason the CaseLabs cases are not yet included as an option in the PCPartPicker's list of components.

  • CPU and Motherboard - I would rather consider Intel Xeon 1680 v3 and Asus X99-E WS/USB 3.1. That's $1260 more.

  • RAM - Great.

  • Storage - I would rather use Samsung 845DC PRO 400GB for OS and Western Digital RE 4TB for storage. Crucial M500 and Seagate Barracuda are kind of low grade considering that this is an expensive build.

  • GPU - I would rather use 2 x Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Strix. That's $280 more but it's definitely woth it.

  • Fans - I would rather use Noctua NF-A14 FLX 68 CFM, Cooler Master JetFlo 95 CFM or Fractal Design HF14-BK 118 CFM (all of them rated 150 000+ hours and ultra quiet) and in my opinion better than Bitfenix.

Cheers.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 6 months ago

Counter-reasoning,

  • For gaming, there was no reason to go Xeon, the Rampage V was 500$ and It was the first time I was ever going to spray-paint a motherboard and take the risk of it not working upon Boot

  • Failure rate of 4tb HDDs are very high right now, 2tb was a great value and the right speed ( 7200rpm) The price difference of Buying Samsung and Crucial are significant for relative Speeds

  • I always Roll with EVGA for GPUS. Plus I needed to Find GPU's that had the option of Original CSQ Blocks to match the Pattern I was shooting for

  • Fans, Once again, Chosen for Aesthetics.

TCO

skyrise
  • 9 years 6 months ago

The Samsung and Western Digital I mentioned above are server class stuff. It's not exagarated to say they are from the few disks currently to do the job right in their respective classes without failure. But yes, they really are expensive.

i7 Extreme is a form of entry Xeon, so it is a good deal, if you're looking for multithreaded performance and rendering/recording workstation. The strange thing is that currently i7 4790K is the most powerful single thread CPU. The new i7 6700K costs more, performs a little worse than 4790K, and it's 130W.

Spray-painting a $500 motherboard? Too risky! I thought the PCI-E slots and the big upper capacitor shield were factory-made white. BTW there are some special Asus mobo editions that are all white/gray and are areally good for aesthetic builds.

Cheers.

Nice to see a "fancy" build with good components for a change. Far too many of these Featured builds have extremely average components inside, and don't (in my mind) warrant the effort spent on aesthetics. Nice job.

Thecautiousone

Glad I was able to ease your mind about the "Featured Builds" I was waiting for my build to go up after I submitted it and saw it immidiately featured. Quite the Surprise. :)

I think this looks better then Skunkworks. I love the white colors and how it's so unique looking. You took an unusual color scheme and made it AWESOME.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

I like white in general for computer parts and then I saw I could make the case two tone from Caselabs and that was a Wrap. I just had to figured out how to get my hands on all white fittings from there. :)

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

To answer your question of why, it's to make you realize you can build a great computer if that is what you want! Take your time and think of how it should look, draw a visual and use the measurments from people who have the case and find out the layout! Get something quality that will outlast all the others.

You flatter me with "MR" I'm only 26. ;)

  • 9 years 10 months ago

only question, why a 240rad for the GPUs and a 480rad for the cpu? what kind of overclocking are you doing on this thing?

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

Actually the CPU has a 480mm in the Main compartment (On the Roof) and a 240mm Rad in the Lower compartment. The Gpu has the 480mm Rad in the Lower comparment and the 240mm rad in the Main Compartment ;)

They Have equal rad space. The Processor runs at 4.25Ghz But I have already OC'd it to 4.5Ghz with 1.3Core V. My 4.25Ghz OC is for 24/7 Use.

Marianogamboa
  • 9 years 10 months ago

Oh boy, what a build! This looks absolutely awsome! So, what color are you using on your CPU loop? Is it red or blue? Either way it looks freaking gorgeous. Is that a chipset water block? If it is, did you run the system without the chipset block? If you did, was it a big boost in overclocking or overall temperatures of the system? Hope you answer and congratulations, it's really an awesome PC.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

1.THe Cpu loop is Staying Blue 2. It is a chipset block for the RVE motherboard By Ek 3. I have yet to run the system without it, Installed it before the First boot up. 4. The Chipset Wateblock is to cool the Vrm's of the Board. So I cannot answer the question pertaining to an advancement in OCing due to the Chipset block.

The X99 Asus Socket has extra pins in order to Overclock more and transfer more voltage if need be.

The Cautious One. Im glad you like the Build. :) Ask anything you need.

Holy bleep O.O, stunned for 5 secs

That's an amazing looking build. Absolutely wonderful job on it!

Just one thing... please tell me you signed up for EVGA step-up or have days to return the 980s...cause with the 980 Tis coming out...should swap those 980s out for them...just saying ;)

I signed up for it on my 970s but I'm screwed cause you only have what like 90 days to upgrade and nothing came out during that period so I'm SOL LOL

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

I haven't registered them although I still could. Just not sure that it what I want. Have 980ti in Sli would be a little better for 2160p but I could still Overclock my 980s if need be.

Glad you like the Build ;)

first of all this is the most beautiful fancy build I ever seen you are talented PC build artist.. but my point is the main parts of the build is around 3k$ that's why I said its unneeded for the price because of the other 3k fancy things that are not adding a huge performance.

Thecautiousone

It is an interesting outlook! I appreciate the truth you have stated although If you were to try and replicate something of this nature (Which Some Might) I wanted to show that the little things (paint, Waterblocks, Radiators, Sandpaper, Pumps for the loop, Fans and Even the 1000$ in Fittings) will be something you might not expect.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

55C while Gaming 500mhz Faster than stock turbo clock speed? You think that is hot? The Ambients in the house were 80F (26.6C)

I ran a stress test with the same ambient temps at Default settings and no OC. The Max core temp after 15min of Realbench at 100% Load was 48C.

The Cautious One.

80-90C is dangerous territory. I am 25-35C away. Plenty of headroom.

I run my 4770k (Delidded) at 4.5Ghz using 1.275Core V and while gaming at the same Ambients (26C) my max temps while gaming are 78C with 2 less cores than the 5930k.

Omnislash89
  • 9 years 10 months ago

I have a 4930K running 24/7 at 4.7 and never pass 64'C on benchmarks or gaming sessions. I might just have a good chip, but yours could still out perform mine in compute, hands down.

I am personally not the bragging type but this would make me brag for weeks. You obviously received a plus one from me. Great job.

Why Corsair and not G.Skill?
Pardon me, I'm a newb and always under the impression (based on what I read) that G.Skill is the best of the best of memory vendor. So, for such magnificent build, why not using the best of the best memory is what I think. Anyway, like I said it's MAGNIFICENT.

Sorry, I forgot, is that the only monitor you are running? Cause it seems a little over killed, two 980's, don't you think? And did you use the Linus tech tips method to paint your motherboard or did you do it in an other way? Thanks a lot.

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 10 months ago

I run two monitors. The 1440p (For Gaming) and I run the Asus 144hz 1080p with all my temps, Processor and GPU clocks, Task manger and Itunes (If I am Jamming) on the 1080p.

That way when I am gaming (On the 1440p monitor) I can watch all temps and Processor Usage

Remember in 980 SLI on the 1440p I am averaging 65Fps on Ultra (The Witcher 3) So the One monitor to game on isn't Overkill

BigBird

Thecautiousone
  • 9 years 9 months ago

Tubing can be Replaced :) Although acrylic is silky smooth and would highly doubt I would stain it with pastel Coolant. The cables were very inexpensive from Ultimatepersonalcomputers.com (The Owner is Adam)

The Pastel is about at thick as water so it will not clog. No chance.

It wasn't so bad. Use alot of painters tape to cover the areas where you don't want to paint, and or get a nice brush and acrylic paint and paint just the parts you want.

Crazy build you got here. +1 for the different color fluid to clearly see which loop is for which components. I'm glad you decided to go with the green and blue instead of that weird orange/red/brown color in a couple of photos.

The Orange Never worked out as it is more sensitive to the PH levels of your coolant.

What Pump is this?

Thecautiousone
  • 8 years 10 months ago

The Pumps I have used in this build are Swiftech 18w DDC. They have EK DDC Pump tops and EK DDC heatsinks.

Ok not going to lie here but why you read me mind yo? Lol it is to funny to see something I was thinking about for 2 weeks now come to life on PCPP. Great build bud! +1 for the creativity on the build as well as part choice. I was thinking of making a Red White Blue build out there with these parts so this is kinda ironic that I thought of this and see it with Green fluid and it looks sooooooo perty! love the build keep up the great work!

Feel free to ask me anything in Log! Start reading. There are quite a couple pages of pertinent information. I learned a ton during the process of building this!

Thank you so much! I did intend to build a gaming rig I was proud of. The last couple Re builds I had done for myself (Last build was in a 750D) It just left me longing for something more. I could easily pick up a 21:9 Ratio monitor but am just not sure I am ready for that untill the new monitors get released this year. I think ASUS is going to have something up their sleeve.

I am an Asus Fan. The Laptop I am typing to you is over 5 years old with a Centrino 2 (Two core processor ) and has lasted me a looonggg time. I build around Asus for that Reason. They Last.

Don't worry about owning it, concern yourself with how to achieve what you see in your mind. The build you have just completed is the first step in a process of a long Hobby. Look at the things you like, what parts you will need to get, how to aquire them, by either Time, Hard work, and the Income you need.

I used all of my income for over 6 months, and pieced together this build. Didn't rush it. Knew what it needed to look like when I started it, and when it would be finished. Took no shortcuts.

This was the Outcome.
