thanks!

i really appreciate these kind of replies(who doesn't?!). i mean, it's informative and constructive i must say not just a simple yes or no or "you're better off with this and that" anyways, thank you for the reply. to be honest, i'm always surprised when other people makes another build cheaper with the same purpose compared to my build. i guess i tend to make the build itself expensive hahaha

i'll be considering those part lists as guides for the build that i want or maybe i'll be just using those without changes. thanks again!

hello

i'm plan to be on the PC route as well for music production. i'm just curious what made you choose amd ryzen over intel sky lake/kaby lake/coffee lake? i'm not hating amd here as i also consider ryzen for the same purpose. i plan to use reaper, ezdrummer 2 and bias fx pro. any thoughts which you think is better for the same price?

cheers!

how's the noise using those rgb fans and with the moduvent removed? is it still super silent? i plan to use mine for a music production build and i was wondering if the tempered glass version has minimal difference between the solid side panel with dampening material. the build will be air cooled as well but only using the stock fans and an r1 universal.

cheers!

i've read something like this also as i plan to upgrade my phone with 1gb of ram. there's an app cold roehsoft ram expander which you can add additional ram with the use of your sd card. they said that it is recommended to use sd cards that are class 4 or higher.

another way is you can root your phone to your computer blah blah which i didn't pay attention with because it's too complicated lol

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Extra SSD space as RAM"

Thanks for the answer! :)

The biggest problem is that it will be a slower memory interface with higher latency than RAM.

Do you think it is really slow even if i use a SSD and is there any way to lower the latency? Do you think there will be a significant difference in overall performance if for example I made it 16gb (4GB from ram modules and 12gb from SSD)?

I also plan to overclock the cpu and i think i can overclock the ram modules to 1066mhz. Do you think the speed of the "RAM" from the SSD will be pretty much the same or there is a way to boost up the speed pretty much closer to that 1066mhz of the ram modules?

i'm pretty sure i'd use the machine for video productions in the future as i want to shoot play throughs also and edit them in the same machine and probably in 4K. i'm looking at these monitors and looks promising but i don't really know about that - Asus PB27UQ and MX27UQ

but for now, i'll be focusing first on music production so that's why i'm wondering if a GTX 960 is still worth it next year for a single monitor use and will probably use the mentioned monitors above.

Thanks for the response and apologies for not including the list and this will be next year (probably safe to say).

i plan to go straight away with i7-6850k, 16 or 32GB Ram, OS SSD, m.2 for programs, 2 HDD for other storage that is needed for production and i want to work with a single 27'' IPS monitor probably add another 24'' in the future if work becomes complex.

wow. 60-70fps should already be good but a 100 is god-like.

i'm intrigued to play that game (together with SoM). i mean, i want to start from the beginning. i want to play games like that because of the story, it's like reading a book while playing a game.

i already played some (lotr: war in the north, dungeon siege iii, divinity, assasin's creed I - although i haven't finished this one, game crashes all the time)

anyway, have fun with the build and i'm sure i'm already late to say that. lol

i'm already set with an Asus PB258Q for my brother's autocadd and photoshop practice but i'm still looking for other options. what i like about in this asus monitor is the display port option, vesa mounting and 90 degree position.

although cable management can do better since you have a fully modular psu and because you can't see the internals all the time, it will give you that great feeling like "opening a chest that has great treasures in it" because of very clean cable management lol

Hmm..

CPU/Motherboard: If overclocking is one of your main concerns at the first place, i could've got the 6600k over the 6400 since it's optimized to do overclocking and maybe because you overclocked the 6400 that's why you're experiencing boot issues with the motherboard otherwise your motherboard is defective.

If overclocking is non of your concern, this motherboard should be fine for the performance and price.

CPU Cooler: This cpu cooler is very popular among overclockers and it should make your cpu around 4.3-4.5ghz without spending that much. Again if you plan to overclock your cpu in the first place. If not, the stock cooler is more than just fine.

GPU: The 280 is just fine and will serve you for maybe 2-3 years but for a little difference in price point, i'd get the R9 380. I'm not sure if your motherboard fiasco is also affecting your gpu or maybe your gpu is also wrecked just like your motherboard.

Monitor: This monitor is a good monitor and for the price point, i'd get this one instead of the one you've got but that's just personal preference.

Keyboard and Mouse: I'm not going to object with these but if you're not that picky, this keyboard/mouse combo should do just fine without that $200 price point.

TV: What's the tv for? if nothing special, i could've put the money somewhere in the build or saved it for later add ons/upgrades.

thank you for the response! though these numbers... ugh.. my head hurts. lol jk

i'm not sure on how to use the formula but the cost per kWh here in my country is $0.09 (based on our latest bill; following the $1 = P48.00 exchange rate)

i found this formula on the internet:

wattage x hours used ÷ 1000 x price per kWh = cost of electricity

i'm not sure if this is applicable here but here's what i got:

500 watts x 300 hours ÷ 1000 x $0.09 = $13.50 or P648.00 per month

  • 500 watts = assumed wattage; with monitor
  • 300 hours = maximum usage of 10 hours/day; based on 2 different builds; gaming, document creation, internet, video
    streaming etc.

  • *Builds = FX 6300/R9 380X & 6500/R9 380 both with 1 SSD, 2 HDD, Optical Drive, Air Cooler or 80mm Rad(Because my case can't accomodate 240/280mm radiators; my case btw is a Tecware Infinity) and Case Fans.

if this is applicable and accruate, i'm assuming that i don't need to go for gold efficiency right?

Thanks!
