Great looking build. Man, that Trident Z looks amazing! Some future proofing is always a good idea.

Totally! I've been thinking of getting something modular myself. I love how you can handle a mess of cables with the S340 but, I'd rather have a bit less stuffed under there.

Good afternoon DaTerminator,

Pairing the 1600X with that ASUS Prime is a great choice. Good looking and reliable board. It was a strong contender for me as well. Ryzen likes fast ram speeds and those Triden sticks are supposed to be compatible running up to 2666 with minimal effort. Double check the compatibility guide, linked below, just to be sure for yourself. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-B350-PLUS/HelpDesk_QVL/

Saying that for 1080p gaming, 2400 ram speeds will not hold you back that much. Linus has a good run on about that in this video: https://youtu.be/D_Yt4vSZKVk

I don't have tons of relevant bar graph style info for you at this point but, DOOM runs good and steady at 60fps on my 60hz, 1080p panel. PassMark puts this card in the high end range with a 3D score of 8711. Plenty to get you gaming at 1080.

I don't follow you. Waste the RAM? By stock rate I mean this RAM worked right out of the box running at the JDEC standard of 2133MHz. To get to the overclocked rate of 3000 (aka 2933MHz) I'll have to do some tweaking.

You are so right in regards to BIOS updates. MSI just dropped a BIOS update (7A32v13) for this board 4/11 that is supposed to help with ram compatibility and stability with the Ryzen 5 line. Updated and is running fine.

In regards to the Q9550, no sir. It was flat stock all the way. It is a surprising CPU and by no means junk. Like you said, it will hang and get done what you need.

Yes, that is the 4 stick kit. The 2B3000C15 is the two stick of 8GB kit.

Yes, I am having issues overclocking this ram with the pro carbon. I've only been able to manually tune the specs out to 2667MHz. I believe this was in the Try my Ram section of Advanced. I was running 16-16-16-38. I need to get more conclusive evidence and make good notes before I can confirm that.

Yeah it is an interesting placement for sure. I'm wondering if they just didn't have room for it elsewhere? I really like the tiger claw style tears off white and black on your board. It looks really cool.

Thanks Ethan. Its a good running build so far. Temps are good and it is stable in its stock form. I'd like to dig in and play with the RAM speeds. The little bit I've done so far has rendered no success.
