Comment reply on Forum Topic "Looking for a gaming laptop deal"

Actually ended up trading a Ryzen build for a monster of a gaming laptop. I got an MSI GE63VR 7RF laptop with 120hz refresh screen, i7-7700hq, GTX 1070 8gb, 16GB DDR 4 Ram, 256 GB NVME drive with a 500GB SSD and a 256 M.2 SSD. All in I spent $450 on the ryzen build with used parts, and feel like I got a steal of a deal since the laptops are selling on ebay used for between $800 - $1000.

I would not say $800 is fair given it is used, and the monitor is just like any other standard FHD 60hz monitor. I would say you are looking around $550 for the PC, and $40-$50 on the monitor so a top dollar of $600.

I typically pay between $75 and $100 for RX 580's, depending on look / wear. A Gigabyte Aorus 580 that is clean and isn't full of dust is a easy flip and $80 is a good price. Closer to $100 if it's 8GB.

I sell similar builds at a clip of about 1/week, and brand new they sell for $650. Your best bet is to pull the GPU (sadly you overspent on ROG), put in a normal 4GB 580, and sell for around $600.

I sell this similar system for around $400 - $425 with new parts. You are looking at maybe listing around $350 with used parts if it looks nice and clean. Otherwise you are around $300 for used parts, I priced it out on Ebay, based upon sold prices:

I gave an example of a build he could go with, he doesn't have to use the exact parts, just what an example of a good build would be. No need to get salty brah.

I'm all good with his post above making his recommendations on dual channel ram and more disk space, I'm not ok with him calling me out by name and saying don't buy my build. "issues" is a relative term as well, the system will work and do what he wants for the budget he wants.

There is nothing wrong with my build bro. No need to knock it just because you think you might need more storage. Disk space is very easy to add into a build. I could easily swap the 8gb stick out for 2 4gb sticks if he wanted, it's just what I had on hand for this build.
