Well, to be fair, I didn't dismiss their Quadro or Tesla products. I maintain a highly competitive AMD/Nvidia ecosystem for a variety of computational requirements. I only have two gaming machines at home. Hence I do not see any necessity for their consumer cards in near future because I've made up my mind to stick with AMD platform for gaming, but Rx Vega has its own issues such as price fluctuation and power consumption! I hope am understood here.
That being said, I might buy one in the honor of that Scientist*, Alessandro Volta, but not because of it being from the GeForce stable.
*I'm one too, hence I bought all Nvidia cards named after Engineers and Scientists. All are my favorites, but Maxwell is more 'closer' to what am in my real life.
I don't really care for Volta given my requirements in the STEMM based applications. I'm going to rock during the with R7 and Threadripper CPUs (products evaluation for 4-5 weeks) paired with Vega Pro cards.
My only two issues? Ridiculous pricing wars and total system power under turbo loads only.
How is that a bother considering AMD's excellent track record on continuously improving drivers of many products?
Well done, and my vote for your build.
Well, I'm pretty much stuck between Taichi or Killer. How is your board performing? I'm not OC obsessed person, yet I might do some experiments on the planned home build (awaiting for Vega; 1700 is final CPU). What do you think about your board?
I'm also pondering on that LED stock cooler because it looks good and offers good performance under decent OC loads. My point, I'm looking at Cryorig LP cooler or any other make which gives lowest possible noise. How is your cooler working? Temp/Noise?
I hope you are enjoying that build, cheers!
Have you paid $700 for RX 580?! Or is that a typo?
I appreciate your response. Just wondering, are you happy with that SSD PLUS model? I always bought Extreme Pro SSDs or Samsung Pros for workstation builds.
Well, I'm not yet clear on workstation X370 boards. There wasn't any problem for me on Intel side (ASUS WS series default choice).
Anyhow, I'm awaiting for better clarity on Ryzen vs Vega or ThreadRipper vs Vega options for building new workstations (non gaming). For gaming build, I've decided to go with R7 1700 and Vega Consumer GPU (planned it as holidays build).
I reckon it must be superfluous for a college student. Never mind.
I can only hope that you did not buy that from a card!
My best wishes for your career.
It's pretty weird to see no comments on this build!
Well, your build looks nice and I hope you are enjoying with it. I've a few questions:
a) how does this board perform? I'm in two minds if should I go for X370 or this one.
b) how does the OCing perform?
c) any RAM scaling info is appreciated (pondering for 32 GB of two DIMMs).
I wanted to see that Monitor, but why no picture of it? I'm pondering if I should buy this one or Acer model?
Also, how do you deal with those internal speakers? I'd be buying external speakers, hence wondering should I go no a make without any internal speakers. However, I don't find any in this resolution. Only in 2560x1080 UW displays have that feature. I'm confused about which one to buy...
Hello, nice build. I'm ditching Intel in favor of Ryzen 1700 for its value and performance.
I've a Q regd. this Asus board -- does it retain RAMDisk feature in the BIOS? I'm very used to this fantastic feature on Intel ROG boards. Please confirm and good luck with that build!
Good to know. Do not ignore ill affects of lighting on eyes, especially HEV light emitted by various consumer devices. After our eyes matter the most. Don't mind my suggestion! :)
They seem to like it? You don't that machine with you?
The reason why I ask is that I'd like to drop all Water coolers in the next Workstation build batch. As of today, I've dropped Kaby Lake CPU in favor of Ryzen.
+1 from me. How is that cooler doing? Are you happy with the build now?
I appreciate your honest assessment. I can only hope that you won't be disappointed on that CPU choice...
Precisely my point. Good thinking. I hope most PC 'card' folks think on these lines...
+1 from me.
How is that build going on now? Do you think it was worth to spend on that CPU considering your daily usage?
Smart thinking. Well done!
+1 from me.
How are those monitors on eyes? Also, I reckon you have to work on that lighting. Are you comfortable?
Glad to learn that. It's worrisome that many people who build PCs end up with debts...
Excellent work, keep it up!
Well, how do you combat with any dust/dirt issues on that white case? Whites look awesome but it is quite cumbersome to spend time after maintaining it. No?
There goes your 80th vote!
Well, I hope that machine is kept safe from any accidental 'touch' incidents.
I like this build, especially that TV part. Well done!
16 years old? I hope you didn't end up with any debt. Enjoy that machine!
There goes 50th vote for this build, well done!
Most of my very high end machines I use for R&D purposes in Life Sciences. What exactly do you use this machine for? Whenever I see such machines I get quite inquisitive. I hope you get the RoI on it down the line...
edit: how is the case like? I'm planning to build a few more very high end ones during the holiday season.
I gave you the 'Vale' number! It looks cool.
Now, my questions: how much power is it drawing? And, max noise levels?
Have a productive time with that build, thanks.
i logged in after a while. Just read this message.
I hope you are happy (enough) with your build now. I'm planning to build a few workstations during the upcoming holiday season. I pray there will be some cool discounts...
Interesting response. If you're looking at performance then it takes some good money. However, I've seen many people (stemmed out of rapid rise in Gaming culture) spend without having a clear picture (purpose) in mind. I thought you did the same. E.g., I know where to spend for a 750Ti or 980 or Quadro/Tesla cards.
Well, what's the issue with RAMDisk? I use it since a few years, so do share your effort if you don't mind.
Regd., '2016 OP Waste of Money'
Why would you feel that way after spending it?
I mean, are you not happy and satisfied with the final build?
Sometimes I don't understand votes received on this site.
I reckon this build deserves 100 or more votes...good job!
I reckon Pascal card won't be released anytime soon. Perhaps save money for the Holiday season?
'Can't wait till Pascal'???
Yes, Linus Torvalds is a legend!!!
Choosing parts are ones choice, yet I'd add that make sure to buy only efficient and low noise (dB) products (if you wish). That Air cooler looks fine, and the monitor too.
I wouldn't bother much about what a company site says because I developed this habit of 'seeing is believing' :) Yeah, it's because of low-FPS factor I suggested you to consider 1440p gaming.
Oh yeah, glad to see one more joining the Stryker club!
That's my dilemma too!
I read on some places that K70 got recurring problems with key lights? Some people complained about how keys got dead with a short period etc. What do you think from this perspective?
Or is there any other make with multi-color?
I own some 710 'plus' model. It's quite a solid keyboard. But not any 910
I use that product on a few machines with ROG boards. Well, those builds are 'somewhat' old...so looking for feedback on (updated, if any) hardware/firmware. Plus, with that case too.
I reckon those parts will not be enough to push a 4K game. Perhaps, why not wait or even settle for 1440 with the same GPU?
No, Liquid Cooling isn't mandatory. Air or Water deliver great results too. E.g., I'm using these:
Scythe Kotetsu (Air)
Cooler Master Nepton 240M (Water)
Nice build; my vote for that effort.
Perhaps, you may consider ROG Front base?
Lastly, how loud is that water cooler? Did you measure (dB) by any chance?
There goes your 100th vote for delivering a good job!
I'm interested to know about that Monitor because I never brought anything from Acer. How did you like that model? Are you happy with it, considering the dough you shelled out? Thank you. And you get my vote too!
I've a similar triple-display ROG build, but it's powered by 4790K and two Matrix 980Tis.
I enjoy playing MotoGP, F1 and currently trying my hands with Project CARS. How did you like your build? What games do you play? I reckon you should share some experience, if you don't mind. Nevertheless, you get my vote.
You've put some good work, well done there! Also, nice photo job too.
I ask out of curiosity, for what purpose you built this cool machine with liquid cooling? Thanks.
Sorry, what is that?
It deserves many more hundred votes.
Sometimes I wonder what members think before they vote? Jealous?
Anything with CM Storm Stryker or Trooper rocks, mostly earns my vote. Well done :)
You sounded like Daleks typical reaction...haha :))
