Ive used Square Trade and it was a Godsend for me. Son played with my MSI gaming laptop on the carpet and fried it. After sending in and being deemed non-reparable, they cut me a check that was actually higher than what I paid for the laptop. That was 5 years ago, so I am not sure how great they are today. At that time, phenomenal.
Hi All. I thank everyone for the input.
I think we need a streaming/capture card as well. Any insights?
Nice build. Good choices. Nice write up.
With what you have, you should probably step up to a 1440p monitor. I think you have picked GPU’s worthy of 2k.
You are welcome.
The one thing that I might suggest, is perhaps an air cooler. I think that the stock cooler will probably perform well enough, however, I am partial to the Scythe Mugen 5 (rev b). I have this cooler in all three pc’s I built in 2019 and am very pleased.
They recently released an RGB version of this cooler and it looks very nice imo. I am actually thinking of dropping the $80USD and picking one up.
Just food for thought and enjoy your PC.
Nice build. Thumbs up!
4 stars for build and summary.
Why 4 stars? You did not rate anything in your build as 5 stars 😉 (nice work)
Nice build. Nice write up. Kudos to you. I smell a feature 😉
Cable mangle-ment 😉
Nice build! I only have one question... What is a tax return 🤣?
I got a good smeller 😉😉😉
Very nice. I’m smelling a feature😉
The Scythe Mugen 5 is a great cooler. Add a second fan for push/pull if you wish. I’ve built 3 PC’s and have used this cooler. Will likely buy another when build 4 happens.
When someone makes a good/great/stellar build, I always appreciate reading the journey.
A stellar PC with no text is a buzzkill😉
Is buying an 8TB WD Elements for $129 and shucking it taboo on PCPP?
Well done! Thx for the time spent explaining your decisions and process. A pleasure to read.
I own the ASUS Rog 34” IPS at 100hz. Love it. But for a man of your means (just kidding around) 😉 I’d be looking at
Asus Rog Swift PG35VQ 35” Curved HDR Gaming Monitor 200Hz (3440 X 1440) 2ms G-Sync Ultimate Eye Care DisplayPort HDMI USB Aura Sync HDR10 Display HDR 1000. Only $2500.
If I was at your position in life, I’d probably go for (I primarily use for gaming), AMD 3950, one of the sub $400 boards (prob Meg Ace), 32 Gb of 3600 C<=16, 2080ti, a beefy air cooler, a couple of NVME drives, a couple HDD’s for pics/docs in RAID and a nice case with big airflow. Good PSU too.
I wish you much success with your build. Shoot me a PM when you build it.
Looks like a real nice build. If you don’t care about the AIO aesthetic, you may want to consider an air cooler. A good base cooler would be a Scythe Mugen 5. If you want black, a Dark Rock Pro or Noctua now has a black model. Just something to consider. I own the Mugen with a 3600, run it full speed, and I cannot hear it. Cool temps.
I’d get an Ultrawide. I play MMO’s, WoW specifically, and love the extra real estate. If the budget allows, I’d strongly consider.
I’m an engineer too. Can not afford what you are doing😉. That damn married, with house, and kids in college thing 🤣🤣🤣
Well - I have nothing to gain by recommending it. I’m not on the payroll. It works well for me.
I sat in about 30 different chairs (big & tall). I took a chance on this one ($159 vs $300+ -> wife approved purchase ). I am glad I did.
If you have $600 burning a hole in your pocket, go to whatever stores you have available, sit in several chairs, then buy the one that feels the best and is rated for your weight. I am sure you will find something with your budget.
Lastly - if you are considering a “gaming” chair, be sure to try before buying. All the gaming chairs I sat in were shite(no comfort).
In case link is bad again (I’m on phone posting), it is on amazon. $159. Big and tall 500 lbs. Cheesy pics of under skinny folks. 477 reviews ~ 4 stars.
Hope it works. If not, feel free to DM me. All the best!
I’m 6’3” and 310. I bought:
I am extremely happy with it. Inexpensive (relative), sturdy, and comfortable. After 6 months, still pleased.
I am using the Redragon 12 button mouse. I’ve owned the Naga (3 versions) and the Logitech several years back. The Redragon is just fine and saves a few dollars.
I am 100% sure that the actions in the Senate will be every bit as fair as the House proceedings.
To be honest, I don’t think Trump is formally impeached till the articles hit the senate. So - what we now have is a president who was voted as impeached - but actually is not (yet).
I find it funny, the president being accused of quid pro quo. What is Nancy Pelosi doing now to the Senate ?
In the end, they are all crooks. They all need to be thrown out of office and be replaced with people not beholden to anyone.
I experienced a somewhat similar issue with my build. It ended up being a bad power outlet (at the wall). Electrician replaced it and the humming went away. Not saying that is your problem, however, it could be. You could take pc to different circuit and see if that removes your issue.
Sounds to me that you are doing EXACTLY what you ought to be doing with your life. When you hit college/university, you will have a chance to do all of these things (if you wish).
University is also a good time to find a mate (that is where my wife of 24 years and I met). You will both have something in common, likely a proper appreciation for education, as well as upon graduation, you are both likely to get good jobs (if you pick an employable major).
I wish you the best with your future.
I sat in several “gaming” chairs with the added padding. They were not very comfortable. All because they provide extra padding, that does not translate to more comfort. I am just trying to provide as much data as I can so you can get the best chair for your use. BTW - the pneumatic cylinder on the chair I recommend seems very strong.
I’m 6’3” and 300 lbs. This chair is great for me. I sat in about 30 different big man chairs at a variety of stores. Some ranging to $500. The wife said I could buy this one. Permission granted and struck while iron was hot. This was as good, if not better, than the more expensive chairs.
It does take some time assembling, however, it was not difficult. I am happy with my purchase. If you buy, chime back in, and let me know your thoughts. Btw - rated to 500lbs.
I would add a second storage drive.
Nice clean build. Nice pictures too. Well done.
Be yourself. You will make friends, likely of higher quality than the extroverted socialites. Quality >>> Quantity.
Finish strong. If you are looking to continue your education at University, your 3rd and 4th years (1st semester) are important.
This is what I bought - and am quite happy with:
Both of those boards reviewed well on Hardware Unboxed. You probably could not go wrong with either. I personally went with the TUF, because Buildzoid really liked this board when he reviewed it through photos of the board (Actually Hardcore Overclocking - YouTube).
4 years of education is only "really expensive " when you get a degree that is not employable or does not pay well. Do your homework and research career paths, in demand skills, and starting salaries. If you pick the right major, the cost of your education will be an investment in your future😉
From a workforce warrior ;-)
Don't be to eager to finish your education. A life of 8:00-5:00 awaits you (for the following 40-45 years), as well as all the new adventures that come with growing up (marriage, kids, elderly parents, etc.) :-D
Nice job - way to take care of a friend!
I'm thinking feature too😉
ASUS TUF. Hardware Unboxed did a review. Take a look.
As far as cooler, I strongly suggest the Scythe Mugen 5 rev b. It is keeping my 3600 and 2x2700X's very cool and very quiet). I have added an additional(kaze flex) fan for push/pull. You could also always get the PCGH edition (dual fan).
Hardware Unboxed did a review on 4 $200ish Mobos. The ASUS Tuf X570 came out on top. I think that the MSI board tanked - temps way high. I think the Gigabyte board was a reasonable second.
As for storage, any thoughts of getting Inland Performance NVME 4.0 at 1 Tb for ~$179? I have this drive and so far so good. If you buy an X570 board, why not take advantage of PCIE 4.0?
I am sorry for your mental health issues. When they hit, they hit hard, and very often people do not understand what the hell is going on at the time (especially if it is the first time that they have experienced things, such as panic attacks).
You did the right thing seeking medical help. I want to share two things that you may or may not know when dealing with mental health. One - it takes time to get back to what you feel is your normal. Please be patient with yourself. Sometimes it is two steps forward, one (or two) steps back. Know and purpose for yourself, that you will get back to normal. Do the things you used to do for enjoyment and comfort. It may take a while to truly enjoy again, however, you will get there.
Thing 2 ;-) Medicine can help, but it is not the cure-all. There were underlying reasons for your breakdown. You have to deal with those. You may be able to untie the knots by yourself or you might want to consider a counselor.
I'm not a medical professional by any means, however, I am a logical individual who has had some issues in the past I had have to overcome. I certainly wish you the best in your situation.
Parts list is private.
I am on my 3rd build this year. I have ordered the Scythe Mugen 5 rev B for all 3. I buy the same fan (kaze flex) and use it in push/pull. I love this cooler. Does a great job. FWIW - I set my fans to max speed on the cooler and it is inaudible to me. Never used a Noctua, however, I would be surprised if I could tell the difference. Also - let me caveat - I have no hearing loss ;-)
I second the Mugen.
Yes - tight fit - but it fits. There is no negative affect, as my PC runs cool. The heat fins are top/bottom facing. Also - because it is so quiet, you can run the fan(s) (I bought a second for push/pull) at full speed and are effectively inaudible.
Nice choice. You won’t be disappointed.
