Six months after I still love it, I connect mine via micro usb, I haven't tried any other ways so couldn't comment on how good, or bad they are.

The pros; Still sounds great, so much sound out of such a small package. It can be used as a stand alone unit, I Bluetooth a lot of my tunes rather than run it through the pc. The led's can be used without the bloatware. Build quality is very high (apart from the LED's)

The cons; A bank of 5 led's on the left failed after 3 months, and looking at other reviews there's more to go! LED memory will not remember the last setting if you put it on standby. Disable the voice noise reduction as this can occasionally be buggy, and annoying mid game when the sound goes nuts.

Conclusion; You do need the software to get the best out of this, as there are few options on the stand alone unit, it will run as soon as you plug it in (I'm running W10), but to get the best out of this you need all the bloatware, it can be buggy at times but generally runs fine.

I've gone through a few setups in the last decade or so, BOSE, Logitech etc to name a few, and as good as some were, they didn't impress me as much as this has, bang for buck you can do better, but not from a sound bar, this is the best in that price range and above.

I would definitely buy this again, but not for the led's, the sound alone is enough to sell this, it really is that awesome considering it's size.
