I recommend buying a used Optiplex with an I7 4th gen and a GTX 1060 or 1070. Makes a perfectly capable 4k gaming machine under $400

The 2060 does have a bit better gaming performance than the 1070, but the 1070 has more VRAM which is useful for rendering and futureproofing. 3700x is a great CPU, but you'd need all new RAM + MOBO + CPU. I would stick with the 3770k for a bit longer, until the next big breakthrough in CPU on AMD or Intel.

With a CUDA accelerated workload like rendering as you mentioned, a 1070 would be a better upgrade. For esports gaming, a 3770k and a 1070 would be more than enough.

What GPU do you have? Old I7s still have good performance.

EVGA is a good manufacturer, I have a EVGA 500B, I use them as my go-to for personal builds and recommendations. It's not above standard sizes, and has plenty of connectors.

Also I have been doing PCs for family members with CPUs similiar to the 3770k, I'd say keep it if you have the mobo and RAM. Probably get an SSD, a new PSU (if you need) and get a GTX 1070. Save a lot, get great performance and all in all it'd be about $400 if you get a used 1070.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yGgVdX also if that RAM is DDR4 then you'll be fine and can skip buying new RAM.

Generally for $700 you're looking at a 1650 TI, or a 1050 TI / RX 570. A 1070 is faster than any of those used. If you can save up another $100 or so, you can get a HDD and a R5 2600 / R7 1700x, i'd go for the R7

And also here https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2vFJ9J if you want to have 32 GB RAM, otherwise the same. The extra RAM can really help with streaming and sometimes video editing.

This will definitely be a good gaming PC even 6-7 years down the road.

This has a better GPU than the other builds here. Reason is the Threadripper line is pretty cheap but motherboards are almost as expensive as the CPUs themselves. Having a 1 TB M.2 is also really good for video editing, and so is the 32 GB RAM.

1060 shadowplay should be plenty enough to stream good quality while 1080p high settings. For the 4k streaming, I would want a rock solid budget.
