I changed my dynamic range in the Nvidia Control Panel to full, and lowered the overall brightness. I think it's at the point where i can tolerate it, so thanks for all your help.

I'm used to use an ASUS VX238H, if that helps.

Unfortunately, that test seemed to make it worse. If I callibrate the colors to the white reference, then the blacks cease to line up with the black reference.

I don't see why people are complaining... Why would there be a bottleneck? I think he should be good for a 4400x1080 resolution.

Review sites use artificial load to stress-test a power supply. This does not always represent real-world performance.

How though? It's a $60 PSU from a well-known manufacturer?

It may be a bit underpowered for a 1080, though.

Now I'm really stumped. The PC has the same issue even with a GTX 960.

I was wondering if it changed some setting in the graphics card BIOS, or if I have to have afterburner running in the background. His processor (a10-5800k) is not the greatest, so I'm worried that a lot of extra programs would negatively impact his performance.

Thanks for the reply. I bought a gtx 960 used, so I think the problem may be solved for now. Does MSi after burner keep the settings even when the program is not running?

I tried this while running Furmark, and the PC froze when the GPU hit 83 degrees celsius. Should he buy a new GPU, or a case with better airflow?

Even for something as old as a 560ti? You would think it would just thermal throttle, though.

Not sure, will ask him. How would i measure thermals in this case? I heard overlays do not work well with the game.

The PC consists of an AMD a10-5800k and a GTX 560ti. The screen goes black, and the computer must be turned on again.

I don't have many games yet, but it runs Rocket League at all high settings at 250 fps. For the little video editing that I do, (in 1080p) it probably takes 30 seconds for 1 minute of video.

OK, thanks for your feedback. That seems like a good option.

The only thing is, the ASrock Killer motherboard has ac WiFi built in, and I won't be able to use Ethernet. Is the SLI plus still the better buy even when it would cost me $30 more?

The build seems OK. I would go with Snaja's advice on the B250 chipset. The 1070 will be amazing for 1080p, and great for 1440p gaming... Not entirely sure about VR in the future, but a 1070 is great for current VR titles.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "ASRock Motherboard?"

  • 1 point

I know. I was wondering if the extra $80 for overclocking, ($30 cpu cooler, +$30 for the cpu, +20 for the motherboard) would be worth it. I was also curious if the motherboards in question would be reliable, as I have never purchased any ASRock boards before, and they don't seem as much of a "premium" brand.

Why do I have too many hard drives? There should be enough SATA ports on any motherboard I choose, enough power from the PSU, and enough room in my case.

I actually would rather keep all of my footage... Should I just then keep the final files in order to keep the size down? (or buy a bigger hard drive?)
