ThoughtA's Build Guide: Entry Level Intel Gaming Build

Jimbino 3 points 4 months ago

yes, but with limitations, being a quad core (and the new battlefield optimised for 6 core) the cpu would struggle without streaming, because if you stream then the cpu would dedicate one (or possibly 2) of it's cores to the streaming (lowering frame rate) I would suggest a ryzen 5 2200 cpu for budget 6 core.

and it would be able to play overwatch and destiny (and have much the same problem streaming )

hope this helped

you don't have to, but the stuff pre-applied is not very good

sorry, but to upgrade to 1440p 144hz/fps and get something that will hold that kind of performance will likely set you back quite a bit. even if you were upgrading from this build you would have to replace most of the parts (except HDD and SSD those sorta things) below is a like to build that I recommend for a good 1440p 144hz setup (if you can afford it) if not then you can downgrade to a 1080 and drop the ssd and things.

(sorry for the rambling, it is getting late here in Australia) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GM9BYT

a quick question

would the 570 be able to handle 1080p 144hz

thanks!

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Entry Level Intel Gaming Build

Jimbino 2 points 4 months ago

yes, easily it will sit at about 70fps 1080p on medium/epic settings on fortnite,

there are exceptions, things like xplane 11 sit at around 35-40

just hit that 'customise this parts list' button in the top right hand corner of the list and from there choose any case you want (pcpp detects compatibility)

hope this helps

it is really your preference, they both have equivalent models for beginner (although you generally better bang for your buck with the RX series of graphics cards over the 10-series.

Love the build!!!!!

a few questions,

1: does the 1070 have enough grunt to run a 1440p 144hz monitor, as I was planning to run one but with a 1080

2: also would you consider water cooling better for light overclocking (with factors like higher price and hassle) vs an average air cooler

That is a matter of opinion,

If it is for gaming the Win is by far superior, but for productivity and general use I much prefer my mac

Does the CPU come with Thermal Paste Pre-applied? OR do I need to buy some? Also do you suggest buying an anti-static wrist band?
