Thank you for your post. It confirms what I just watched with two videos on Youtube with benchmarks on games. Many a time, the 580 performs as well or just a bit under the 5500 XT.

The thing is, in France right now, one can buy a brand new 580 for 150€ while the new 5500 XT sells at least at 220€! (I just checked the prices here)

In other words, I am very happy I did not wait for the 5500XT and bought my 580. OK, it heats up more, but with a good computer case and plenty of fans, It does the trick...

So that would translate to 200 euros here. :/

To what I read, the prices are not announced yet. So we are just speculating at this point.

I have been waiting to upgrade my graphics card for a while. Decided to wait for the rx580 replacement and see what's what. I hope I won't have been waiting in vain.

While I am happy they are thinking of mid range graphics cards I am mostly interested in below $200 models. What will replace the RX 570 and 580?

Anyone got any idea of when these will be available?

oh my goodness... This is so amazing. I don't know what I prefer: the use of an actual coffee machine to use as a computer case or the write up.

Congrats!

Sidenote: I would have used an APU but you are obviously killing it at making great computers! Keep at it! :)

Thank you for all these info. I really appreciate that! Edit: and for offering to do extra benchmarks for me :)

Right now the games I would play when I get my build would be older games. Like Bioshock infinite, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Quake 4, Dishonored... And I would play at 1080p / 60 fps. Nothing crazy demanding.

And by the time I move and play more demanding games like Far Cry 4 or Rage 2 and so on, a couple of years will have gone by and Radeon VII will be cheap.

An SSD will change your life. It has changed mine on two computers, my old desktop and my current laptop.

Perhaps more RAM too?

Thank you for your comment.

I am willing to trust AMD on this build. Intel is getting less competitive and I always like the underdog, especially when it comes with great products as AMD is doing right now.

My girlfriend has an Nvidia graphics card and she is having so much trouble with the drivers... Am gonna pass on this one too.

Also, I don't really need to future proof my GPU. I generally take a 150 Euro / USD card and change it every four years or so. Am not a huge gamer and this likely won't change in the future. But thanks again!

Thank you for your idea.

However, I don't know that brand and this graphics card has ZERO feedback or rating on it. >_<

Plus I have seen slightly more expensive cards with 8 Gb too.

Hello and thank you to both of you! I duly note your advice on 3000 MHz RAM.

I have no idea as to how link to a saved build, but the idea is that with the right LED RAM, the 24 inches screen and everything it goes right below 800 USD. By the time I actually buy it I hope to save a few more bucks. I would retrieve my old Noctua cooler, my 500 Gb SSD and another regular hard drive.

For cooling, nothing of that AIO watercooling stuff. This is just not my scene and I already have an amazing Noctua air cooler. Almost ten years old but it would fit the new build with their upgrade kits.

One 14 cm fan to get the air to the graphics card and two 12 cms ones to extract the air off the case. Should be enough. If it turns out it were not I would swap the two 12 cms for two 14 cms models.

Thank you so much for your advice. This confirms my hunch :)

At the beginning I would use the stock cooler but if I want to overclock, I have an old Noctua cooler and fan I could use in an old build. Their update kits only cost a few bucks.

Now, should I take 2666 or 3000 MHz RAM? Is the difference really notable? What kind of gains would I have in my everyday work? in gaming?
