+1 for citing sources! Very nice build; I hope it serves you well.
+1 for “crisp”
Nice build! What camera did you use for the pictures? They are absolutely sweet!
Too true. Enjoy the build friend!
It’s not often you see a Xeon build on PCPP. Very cool, and I love the name.
Looks great! It just needs a name. Every PC deserves a name!
Love the blacked out look! Also, that’s a solid upgrade list. Nicely done!
Love the Vue fluid! Beautiful build!
Just a typo. Now fixed.
I have one of those chairs too, and they are fantastic. Plenty of support, very comfortable, and they are mesh, so you don't get sweaty on contact. My Dad has used one at work for over 10 years. I'd highly recommend them.
I was running my 6700k at 4.6GHz at 1.385V with full stability on RealBench and Cinebench.
Then I got Prime95, which I was suspicious of with the whole Skylake bug thing, and I couldn't stay stable. Even at 1.4V I couldn't hold 4.6GHz for more than about 10 seconds.
I eased off to 4.5GHz at 1.35V and I'm rock solid stable even on Prime95.
I must say, you got a nice chip to pull those numbers!
Nice overclock on the CPU! What voltage are you pushing and what did you use to stress test?
+1 for the thorough description alone! Your build looks fantastic, and that 4Kp60 must be glorious. Enjoy it!
Nice build! It's good to see some less standard colors get some love.
Everything looks nice and clean, and those extension look sweet! Awesome job, enjoy it!
That EVGA Bridge looks absolutely beautiful. Check this link often, you never know when it will be available!
Nice build! Are you looking into getting a HB SLI Bridge? According to NVIDIA's info table you may see a slight boost in frames.
All in all, sweet build and enjoy that 4Kp60!
Same here! I'm running 4.6GHz at 1.375V. To hit 4.7 I need about 1.41V, which is a little too high for comfort.
OP got a nice lottery pick.
Awesome build and photos!
+1 for pure beauty!
I'm using an EVGA SC 1070 with a 1440p 144Hz G-Sync monitor (Dell S2716DG). My build isn't yet updated on PCPP to reflect these changes, but I digress. It's a great combo because older games hit 100+ FPS, and newer ones hover around 50-70 FPS with G-sync making it buttery smooth. I highly reccomend 1070 + 1440p.
I also have the H100i V2 and 6700k. I'm currently overclocking to 4.6 GHz at 1.375V, and the CPU never gets above 64 C even during a 3 hour stress test on the "Quiet" preset. The cooler is great, although the fans do throw some noise when they rev. I highly recommend it.
Getting a free and nonfunctional G5 that I failed to fix was my inspiration to do my first and only build so far. I now realize that I should kept the case! Why did I give it away?!?
I actually had a 390X and went to a 1070 when I got a 1440p 144Hz G-Sync.
The 390X is gloriously powerful at 1080p, only the jump to 1440 made it take a hit. My main upgrade motivation was G-Sync, but the bottom line is that you will definitely not regret that card.
However, I will say that the 1070 is absolutely crazy too.
Beautiful job. Your PC is truly a work of art, and your photography is stellar! I love the sweet picture angles.
Congratulations on creating an absolute masterpiece!
The Define S is an awesome future choice. I didn't do a custom loop in it, but airflow is good, and cable management is a breeze. My only complaint is that the window is prone to scratches. Besides that, (I may cut some glass for a custom window if I scratch it too badly) I highly recommend it.
Beautiful build! It looks awesome and professional!
Excellent choice with the CableMod LED's. I have them, and they are stellar. You will not be disappointed.
I'd highly advocate an SSD, even just a 120GB for the OS and chosen applications. The SSD difference is incredible.
Make sure your RAM isn't too high to fit under your cooler. Probably not an issue, but worth the Google Search.
Nice choice of MB, I have the same one and it works great with my 6700K, OC'ing to 4.6 GHz at 1.375V. It also XMP'ed my RAM to 2400MHz as advertised in one click. I'm very happy with it.
As others have said, I'd also wait on the graphics card. The 6700K has integrated graphics if you have the patience for the 1070 to stabilize in availability and price, or for Polaris the drop.
Just my 2 cents, the most important thing is to have fun with it. Always remember: it's YOUR build, and no one else's. Make it your own.
Happy building! Cheers!
That push-pull would be sweet! Best of luck with the build! Cheers!
I've had great luck with my build's Corsair H100i V2. The 115I has a little more power, and I haven't played with NZXT yet, but I'm at a 4.6GHz OC on my 6700K at 1.375V, and I never see temperatures above 67F in "Quiet Mode" (Quiet, Balanced, and Performance preset modes). The 100i is pretty quiet, but not silent, however in my Audio-Technica ATH-M50's, I never hear it at all anyways. This is my first build, so others will have more experience, but that's my 2 cents for the Corsair.
Thanks for the recommendation. My K70 RGB MX Red should be arriving soon!
Looking forward to seeing the updated build.
What keyboard do you have in the pictures? I'm looking at keyboards right now, so would you recommend it?
My chip really doesn't like base-clock changes. Even at around 102MHz and a multiplier of 45 I have nowhere near the stability of 100Mhz X 46 at the same voltage.
Excellent idea nonetheless. I agree, Skylake is a lovely platform and I'm very happy with it.
It's a Dell S2415H. It's a 24", thin bezels, glossy screen (I personally am a glossy screen fan, and this one is not overly reflective), at 1080p, 60Hz. I'm not sure if it's a VERSA mount or not, it might be, but the stock stand is solid.
It's actually my brother's monitor that I'm borrowing (my 19" 1440x900 is unworthy of the new build) until I pull the trigger on a new monitor for myself.
