Pretty much the perfect case for what I wanted to put in it and how it looks. Also has great soundproofing and solid construction. Love it.

I was debating R4 vs R5 for a while then the R4 went on sale. It wasn't long before I though maybe I should have went for the R5. The first factor was I wanted to replace the clip-on fan with a Hyper 212 and found the rear motherboard opening didn't go down far enough to remove the backplate. Would have had to remove motherboard. The second was I couldn't utilize the SSD mount behind the motherboard without removing the motherboard. Both of these factors are fixed in the R5.

Fairly quite (until you fill it with fans), well built, looks nice, the door is annoying though.

Easy to work in and looks great. My only grievances are fixed with the R5 (which didn't exist when i bought this). But they would be; 1. easier mounting of SSDs behind the mobo. (you have to remove the mobo to mount them) and 2. the Power LED was blue and the brightness level of the surface of the sun. Which is why I bought the new LED.

- Still better than fractal design R5 for me because of price.
- Has dust filters and they are easily removed for cleaning.
- You can put cable in the back for better management.
- Removable HDD bay.
- Great airflow.
- Wow much space
- It's a case.
- I wish it was less heavy because I have wimpy arms.

Fantastic case. Looks great, very quiet, and lots of room for cable management on the right-hand side (non-window side) behind the motherboard.

It's a very nice and well made case. I'll just say many features made building pleasant. One small drawback about this style is that it will be difficult to manage the cabling unless you have the correct kinds of cables. The ones that came with my psu were kind of clunky, wide, and had far too many connectors on them. I would recommend this case to anyone who is already planning on ordering specialty power cables OR someone who knows for sure that the PSU they are buying comes with easy to manage space conscious cables.

from completed build I can’t stop staring at it. Clean new build in an older case.
I bought this case in 2016 and I have yet to find a case that I would replace it with. It’s quiet, clean looking, easy to build in, modular, well-built and well filtered. I wanted a case with a tempered glass side panel and was looking at getting a Define R6 but I found out that Fractal sells tempered glass panels for the R4. I chose to go back to this case after trying a Meshify C as mentioned in my build log, the R4 has similar airflow and is much quieter. I have changed the stock power led from the super bright blue one to a more subtle red one and I’ve also painted the PCI-E slot covers black.
