Bought mainly for looks, and while its quiet, temps are average. Mounting is solid and a overall a good purchase if its on sale.
I always wanted a nice looking cooler, not just to keep my system cool, but to add a little bit of extra style and class to the computer. This cooler delivers on both parts by providing an awesome form and completely black finish. It seems to be the optimal size for cooling and space restrictions, as well as being small enough to just barely fit in my case.
The 135mm fan is specially designed for this cooler, so unfortunately it requires the same fan as a replacement or as an additional fan. It is special in the fact that it is a 6 poll fan, which means it has 6 magnets instead of the usual 4 for increased smoothness and quietness. It is honestly the best fan I have ever used. The clip mounting system could be a little better, and I have to subtract .5 stars for it feeling awkward and almost painful to remove and install, especially in a tight space. The fan also covers my first RAM slot.
It's been a while since I needed to remove it from the motherboard, but I remember the mounting being fairly easy, but not as easy as a smaller cooler. On the bright side, it is VERY solid once installed compared to a CM Hyper 212, which tends to be "loose" once installed. This mount handles car travel with a breeze (no pun intended).
For around 70 dollars, its not worth the money in cooling potential. But it does look great and makes a good addition to any system. Too bad I don't have a windowed case, because I love to stare at how amazing it looks. Cools good too.
Black, cold and Silent what else matters!
If you have a socket set with an extension this is super easy to install! IF not its a bit of a pain.
High quality CPU Cooler. The reason I gave it 3 stars? It's VERY VERY hard to mount.
Perfect. Just what the doctor ordered -- quiet and gets the job done nicely. Covers a RAM slot I wasn't planning to use anyway.
Looks really nice and is extremly quiet. The only problem is that the installation is annoying, but if you have someone to help its no problem.
Good performer but a bit heavy and blocks the first memory slot.
Expensive for it's performance but gorgeous.
Beautiful looking and it works like a dream. These have a reputation for being hard to fit, but this reputation is slightly unwarranted if you fit the hex nuts at step 2 in the instructions straight on to the M3x15 screws, on top of the C spacers. Then the Intel mounting brackets are attached to the radiator and you can dry fit the whole unit easily before tightening the Intel hexagonal nuts progressively. To avoid ever blocking the DIMM_A1 RAM slot I mounted the whole unit 180 degrees out from it's intended orientation and setup the fan to pull air through and direct it straight at my exhaust fan. It's also worth noting that the 160mm height gives ample clearance to the side panel, whereas the Dark Rock Pro 3 would have been very tight, as well as a lot more noisy with two fans instead of one.
Wanted a change from AIO. The best looking air cooler IMO and performs just as well as an AIO for less. I didn't really like the logo popping so much so, decided to mute it a bit to add to its industrial look. Super quiet too.
EDIT: I decided I don't not really like the look of the brushed metal so I sprayed it Matt Metallic to match the rest of the build. I also decided to make the logo look like it was stamped into the plate, than just a badge.
