I never have used an anti-virus. I don't download a lot of stuff and when I do its only stuff I trust so I have never gotten a virus and I trust my 'web-smarts' enough to continue that trend. Should I get an anti-virus software just in case though? If I do which ones would you recommend?

I have never gotten a virus

There is still quite a bit of malware that might not show any noticeable symptoms, and vulnerabilities that are discovered and actively exploited before patches are released. Running completely bare is not a good idea, period.

Should I get an anti-virus software

Assuming you are on Windows 10, the built in Windows Defender is actually reasonable. An occasional scan with something like free Malwarebytes is a good way to catch anything that slips through.

I personally recommend and use free Bitdefender. In the past I've used and recommended the free version of Kaspersky as well.
