Im looking to upgrade my Ryzen 3 1200 to a 7 1700. Is it worth it? Right now the 1700 is dirt cheap. Im a casual gamer I like playing Fortnite , Counter strike and I like streaming it. My gpu is a GTX 1050 2gb. What are you thoughts?

If you can get it for around $120 I'd recommend going for the CPU upgrade, otherwise I'd recommend upgrading the GPU. I'm sure after Ryzen 3000 launches it's gonna be super cheap and common to buy the 1700 used. Hell I'm sure the 2700 is going to be cheap.

Well more cores would help with his streaming but yes his 1050 2gb card is anemic compared to what is available these days. You can get a RX 570 for $130 to $140 USD these days and it will be much more powerful than the 1050 non TI. I think that would give the largest boost in game FPS over the CPU upgrade considering OP's current hardware. The other thing I would worry about is the motherboard because if it was a super cheap one that ran minimal specced VRMs with absolutely no heat sinks on them I would be wary on running an 8 core CPU off it let alone overclocking. Those boards do exist on the first gen AM4 boards. cough https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/XmjWGX,G438TW,nJvZxr/ cough

I know I plan on getting a new GPU in the future but for now my main priority would be a new CPU. In the future im going to get a RX card for sure because they are dirt cheap as well. thanks for the suggestions. But for now I want a new CPU and I cant decide between the Ryzen 7 1700 and Ryzen 5 2600? the 2600 performs better but comes with a bad cooler and the ryzen 7 1700 has 2 more cores but performs a little worse in games but has a good cooler with RGBBBB! help me.

Well they are very similar in gaming performance but the 1700 is better for streaming and video editing

Well with that GPU, don't expect miracles as gaming performance concerns.

But you will still get some fps more only because the faster Ryzen 1700 and if you wanna stream, that processor would be a very good option.
