So..ever heard a hard drive make this sound?

My new PC was making a sound that was driving me nuts! Wife thought I was nuts to care, as it's not that loud, but it's a constant noise that I thought for sure what the GPU or something. I finally checked the hard drive, and that's what it was!

So here's the video of sound its' making: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqUXLq_dCWk And it does it at all times, unless my pc is idle for a long time.

And this is the hard drive: Seagate BarraCuda Internal Hard Drive 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch (ST2000DM006

What a pain, but relieved that's all it was and nothing serious. It still may not be serious, but my last hard drive didn't make such racket.

As long as it's not the click of death it shouldn't be anything to worry about. Just make sure you have your important files backed up, just in case.

oh, I'm sending it back to amazon. It was driving me absolutely nuts. Copied files, and enjoying the silence.

Try an SSD this time and enjoy the blissful sound of no mechanical parts...

yeah I already have 2 in there and by the time I add a 3rd they should hopefully be even less expensive.

Also some operating systems will hump a HDD as it were, it may not have been a HDD issue after all. Have you ever tried any 2.5 inch drives, thats what I have my system currently and its very quiet. Specifically, I have a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB Hybrid HDD with 8GB NAND flash for SSD like performance with the cheapness/GB of a HDD.
