Planning on buying timewarner's 50 Down/ 5up as it's the fastest available in my area, trying to find a good recommended modem/router or modem/router combo that will take advantage of my new internet speed and allow for good gaming/streaming wired or wireless connection.

I recently just got a new Netgear router. It's the Netgear-Wireless-AC Dual Band Gigabit router with 4 ethernet ports. This router has been working great for me. I still get a signal that allows me to watch video upstairs while the router is on the other side of my house. This router is $150 from Best Buy.

As for the modem, I wouldn't recommend a modem/router combo as I have had problems with those dropping my internet connection and not having very good range. As for a brand to look into, I would recommend Motorola/Arris as I had one of their products that lasted for a good long while before I needed to replace it because my ISP changed there equipment requirements.

Hope this helped!

Get a Motorola/Arris SURFboard SB6183 cable modem & a separate router. I got an older SB6141 model for years now & have no problems on it. It pays over time than renting one from my cable internet provided.
