Description

This is my second pc build. After building my first pc, I began to do more research on hardware components, trying to find the best performance for my money. The original plan was to upgrade my pc slowly and swap parts whenever necessary but when Black Friday came along, my wallet was begging to be used. So I did what I had to. Am hoping I won't have to upgrade for another three years, but the 2080s are looking really nice.

Part Reviews

CPU

Got this amazing processor on eBay for around $260 with the 15% off anything coupon.

CPU Cooler

Will probably swap out for something RGB. It does its job.

Motherboard

Love the RGB! Got this mobo on sale.

Memory

What else do I have to say about this beauty?

Video Card

Bought this GPU on eBay for $350, for that price its hell of a deal. This card works perfectly fine. Except no RGB, but for that price, can't complain.

You pretty much need 3000 or 3200, otherwise you'll hinder your ryzen performance. The ryzen skus use a thing called infinity fabric that is basically dependent on your ram to have max performance. 32 gigs is nice, but if you can find 16 gigs of 3200 with CL 14, then you should use pounce on it. especially if it is under $175.

what is CL14?

CL is the timing for how long your ram can access and locate your ram from. It is much more complicated than that, but for general purposes, a lower CL or cas latency is better than a higher one. 3200 with CL 14 is generally expensive, but some of the best ram out there.

I couldn’t agree more! Once you get past DDR4 3000 or so it can be difficult to see any tangible improvements. Even in benchmark applications, higher frequency ram may even be a hindrance depending on the voltage of the kit being used, capacity, etc. I’d rather more ram of a lower speed than less ram and a higher frequency.

I think that with a GTX 1080, there’s not much more improvement to be had with any faster frequency ram. (Haven’t looking into specific benchmarks with this exact setup so I could very well be mistaken)

Great build +1 :D

Sorry, I am not really good with names. What about Starlight?

Same here :(

I usually name all of mine either what they’re going to be used for or what color they are and what bracket of build it would be under. (Budget, Workstation, Main rig, etc.)

Naming is hard! :o

How do you like the mouse? I’ve heard some complaints, and I’d like to know what your thoughts are. It’s an m65 elite, right?

No just the Pro. The mouse feels big. And personally the forward button feels a little hard to reach. The sniper button is great to have but overall it's just a bit big for me.

Going to wait for the price to drop first. As a college student, that card is beyond my reach.

1980x1080. Looking for a good 2k monitor 144hz deal.

That's very true but I run more than one game most of the time. Would be extra crisp if they both ran at max settings. :)
