Description

So this was a long time coming. I had a lot of these parts sitting around from previous builds or got deals on them, but I wasn't looking to build a new PC. I realized a new build had to be done as my poor MSI GE72 just wasn't kicking it anymore. I had never thought a PC could be great looking as well as functionally impressive. But enjoy!

Part Reviews

CPU

A pretty solid processor. Great for 1080p 144Hz gaming.

CPU Cooler

I love this cooler, it looks great, performs great and was an easy install.

Thermal Compound

I mistakenly ordered this before realizing the H100i v2 came with preapplied thermal paste but since I had it, I used and it seems to do a appreciable job.

Motherboard

My biggest mistake was cutting the line at this board. Awesome overall design (excluding the crap yellow LEDs that thankfully can be disabled in the BIOS) but seems to be lacking some feature sand has a kinda cheap feel to it. Also came missing the PCI retaining arm for the second slot.

Memory

Cool looking RAM, cheap and works.

Storage

Awesome speeds and was a sweet deal from my father.

Video Card

Awesome card, EVGA came in clutch and allowed me to RMA my card I had purchased from Microcenter because it was DOA.

Case

Beautiful case, tons of room to make any build special.

Power Supply

I love the full modular capabilities this PSU has to offer, but I wish the included cables actually were able to be securely lock once plugged in. Had to check my cables multiple times because a slight shift of one cable may have loosened another.

Operating System

I love Win 7, also love I had this already.

Wireless Network Adapter

Intermittently drops connection, no idea why.

Case Fan

Silent and moves air while looking great.

Case Fan

Silent and moves air while looking great.

Monitor

Awesome to finally game at 144HZ and GSYNC is pretty baller. Says it can OC to 180Hz, but I leave it at 144.

Mouse

Got cheap at a Walmart because it was an open box. Great all around mouse.

UPS

Awesome to know my PC will be protected if something happens, got cheap through my fathers work.

Other

Very helpful because the cables on the Corsair fans were a tad short for the cable management I wished to do.

Dude, here are some tips for you to consider when building you next PC:

-A locked CPU (meaning it can't overclock), doesn't need a liquid cooler.

-Same with the motherboard, you don't need a z170 if you are not going to overclock.

But besides that, everything looks awesome. The monitor is great too

I should have mentioned it in my parts review that I was given this particular processor for free and do plan on replacing and overclocking.

I recognize military barracks when I see them ;) Nice build. Are those Ensourced cables? The plastic holder(clips?) look the same as my Ensourced cables.

They are! They are the best sleeved cables you can currently buy as of now!

Question, i have the same case and i want to keep the optical drive. If i remove the plate and the hard drive cage and put the corsair cooler lower on the next fan...do you think i have enough space to keep my OD ?

Thanks

Could you give some details on that microphone?

how did you install 120mm fans in the front of the case, with screws facing the inside? I instaleld my 120mm Corsair SP 120 fans with the screws on the inside, (mall thick ones) because the long ones that came with the case didnt work. (i have the same cooler btw)

Could you provide the height of your RAM?
