Description

My first ever PC Build. Pretty sweet specs but maintain at reasonable price that money can buy. I build this PC main for Multimedia work, some gaming and also rendering. I could have gone a way better specs but my bank wouldn't allow it XD But that doesn't mean my PC shouldn't go bling bling aye?

Anyway let's go through the parts.

i7-8700 w/ MA410M: For the CPU, I went for the i7 non-K version. Simply because I have no idea how to OC and the fact that this CPU has 6cores 12threads, that pretty good already. I will use this CPU for light rendering, multitask and future proof. For the Cooler, well I wanted to go for Deepcool Gammaxx RGB. But couldn't get it. However, MA410M handle my CPU temp pretty well. Under-load, the CPU temperature manage to stay under 60 to 65 Celsius. After all it's a massive cooler haha!

ROG Strix H370-F: Since I'm not OC my CPU nor RAM, I went for the H370-F. It has a good sound-card() at this price point. And I heard this MOBO can handle the I7 without a problem so I don't want to break the bank buying any expensive MOBO. Oh ya, it has Asus Aura as well.

16GB XPG SPECTRIX: As I stated above, I want this PC to handle my multitask work and staff. 16GB nowadays is the sweet spot for gaming and multimedia work. Not too overkill. XPG SPECTRIX has nice RGB and casing. It suits well with my build.

GTX 1060 GALAX: At this price point, I could have gone for a better GPU. I was skeptical with its performance. But I gave it a try for a good few days. It's not bad. Under-load and idle, the GPU manage to maintain its silent(not too silent ofc) and the temperature. It handles well for my games like NFS Payback at full 1080p settings.

Acer Nitro VG240Y 23.8'': Looking for budget monitor that is IPS and also 75hz with 1ms response time? Look no further!

I guess that's about it about my PC build. If you have any questions, please drop them below. Would love to answer it!

The Phanteks P400 says on newegg that it has a CPU Cooler clearance of 160mm, and the MA410M is 165mm... how'd you fit in there and how much clearance do you actually have?

Yeah I am fully aware of that. However, this CPU Cooler manage to fit in. And the gap between the CPU Cooler with the Glass is very small. I didn't modified anything on the CPU Cooler nor the Case. So yea XD

That is very good news! I was looking at getting that cooler - but I have the p400s and I thought "Come on! Its just barely too big!" Now, I guess, I can get it! Thanks for the heads up!

I'm happy to be able to help you with it. Is MA410M your only choice right now? There are few more if your concern are aesthetics.

It's between that and the Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi. Just a waiting game to see when they come on sale. Was thinking the Deepcool Gammaxx GT - great deal, especially with the extra fan combo on Amazon, but I just couldn't get on board with the aesthetic difference between the heatsink and the fans... oh well

What other ones did you consider?

One thing that I just noticed is that one review I saw said that they designed the fans so that you don’t see the fan support struts on the back fan. Is it possible you have the back fan backwards?

For that I am not so sure to go backwards. I will have to give it a try XD

Also, before purchasing this CPU Cooler. I was thinking of getting H7 Quad Lumi or Gammaxx GT. But obviously the Gammaxx GT has the best look, however, the cooling isn't as good as H7 nor CoolerMaster. I reckon if you plan on OC or something, go for H7 or CoolerMaster, otherwise your CPU will just hit high temperature. If you don't plan on OC, the Gammaxx GT is the best choice. Furthermore the cooler is small and looks good as well

Could I use an unlocked CPU with this mobo? Just wondering

Yes you can still use unlocked CPU with this motherboard but you cannot take advantage of that overclocking with this motherboard. Go for Z-Board like Z370 as it supports overclocking for your unlocked CPU.

i'm wondering, Is CPU cooler overlapping the first RAM slot?

These RBG rainbow builds are getting so old and ridiculous, going for orange and white or maybe white and green, but I just no I can't look at another RBG build, that is what I have now and I am not a huge fan after all, that's why I am building new PC, that and I really really want to try out the new AMD CPU... Looks good but looks the same as all other builds!
