Very First Build - $1,500

by jrod7296

Hello, I first wanted to start off by saying this is my very first time ever building a PC. I am going to be a Senior in college and I finally saved up enough money to build a rig of my own.

I bought all of my parts at Microcenter , mostly because I didn't want to wait for shipping and I found that the prices were very comparable. After tax and a $9.99 warranty on the motherboard, it came out to be $1,506.

Overall the build took me around 7 hours, like I said I had no prior experience in anything like this.I ran into a few minor hiccups but nothing crazy. I mostly went off of Youtube videos and other online resources.

Other than my cable management because I know that's not perfect, please feel free to leave any suggestions or tips! I'm sure that I missed something or could improve in some way. Thanks!

For a first time build, not bad at all. My first build was terrible with a birds nest of cables. You have a nice selection of parts and the cables aren't horrible. You may (as you suggest) want to tidy them up a bit. The NZXT Elite case you have is a great showcase with it's tempered glass to show its contents. Good job.

Thank you, there were a few cables I didn't know how to clean up but I did my best!

Some cable zip ties will help you. Congrats on your first build.

Hey I appreciate that, and I'll look into the zip ties to make it look nicer!

+1. Good work! Beats my first build by a landslide. I see you moved the SSD in between pictures; was it because of that gosh darn label?

Yeah that and I was having an issue with the SATA cable in the spot that I first had it and it made it easier to just move there!

Pretty good for a first build, you could've fit in an oculus rift and a $1100 build and really had a blast, but this is still pretty good.
