Description
The Paladin was going to be the last AMD build for me (for a little while) so I set out to make something pretty special :) The chassis I've used is the Noctis 450 by NZXT and I really like it, much like the Razer Edition H440 this one has lighting built in underneath which looks pretty spectacular, hopefully an RGB version of the underlight kit is being developed as this would be great for the next set of builds when the new GPU release :)
With the chassis giving me a strict blue theme I decided to use a Gigabyte Windforce over the Sapphire 390x for this build and after a bit of back and forth went with the GA-970A-D3H black motherboard from Gigabyte as it's got a very nice black/grey colouring vs the 970 G1Gaming I was originally intending to use (great mobo, but had some red on it)
My crazy RAM is the rather unique Avexir Raiden DDR3 2133MHz, I started out using some nice G.Skill Ares which did look great in the build but when I turned on the chassis and the underneath + gpu lit up with the blue glow I wanted to add more so I grabbed some Raiden and after a quick test fell in love <3 I found it really tough to photograph the lightning inside so I make a quick video here = https://www.instagram.com/p/BEuy7y-QDEh/?taken-by=goodgamingpc
The problem was I couldn't fit 4x sticks with the wraith cooler in so I opted to set that aside for a future build and fit a cooler master Seidon 120V with blue led jetflo fan and really make the build into something beautiful :)
If you're looking for a build like this without going quite as crazy of lightning ram and water cooling you can also fit 4x sticks or Ares under that wraith :P
Power supply, ram and storage wise I've used some recent favourites from EVGA, Seagate and Crucial. The EVGA was a bit overkill as I'm using white braided extension cables so I ended up swapping this out for a nice Zalman 600w when I got a moment (pics showing black cables are the EVGA)
I've used the Gigabyte AC Wireless + Bluetooth kit again in this build and have to give this one a quick rave review - PCB is black which looks excellent and connections are fast and stable, this is the perfect option for anyone looking to add good wireless capabilities to a rig.
We've got overwatch just about to launch which is going to be great to test out on all the new builds, please let me know any games you think I should test out and I'll be sure to upload them to the channel
Next on the design table are some crazy little builds which I can't wait to show you :) GG!
Part Reviews
CPU
Included a wraith cooler, -1 star as I couldn't see the fancy LED logo easily onhce in the build :P
CPU Cooler
This kit was very easy to install and the blue LED fan looks great, highly recommend and I still can't believe how cheap this thing is!
Memory
This awesome ram feature plasma tubes that look like they contain real lightning (maybe they do!) and if you're building a red/black theme Avexir even have an Asus ROG kit with red lightning which looks pretty nuts. These sticks are massive so be careful if your CPU cooler overhangs the ram slots you have in your system.
Storage
My 3rd time using this SSD and I'm impressed, such great value.
Case
Looks pretty awesome and packed full of NZXT features like the awesome fan hub on the pack, I really like the underglow.
Wireless Network Adapter
My new go-to kit for all future builds, fast AC wireless and bluetooth is a +
