Description

Originally built this pc back in 2013, always ran it at stock speeds. Next let me say, I don't have this much in this PC. I had most of these parts since 2013 or before. I got an itch to upgrade, but didn't really see a point in a new CPU, MB, and Ram when I could just o/c the hell out of this one. I also wanted to work on the look of it as now I work from home and will see it all the time. So I bought a new case a few months back, just got the Asiahorse Solar Eclipse (4) case fans, and the CRYORIG H7 cooler. I did have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO which would have been fine, but I wanted one that I though looked better, on the plus side the H7 cools better. When I started working from home back in March 2017, I wanted a bigger monitor. My pick was the LG -34UM67 34" ultrawide @ 75hz. I had a Hanns-G 28' that I now use for my work computer. Anyway, this has breathed new life into the old boy, as it seems to scream at 4.5ghz, topping out at 67c running prime for 2 hrs. When I game on this, it usually does't top 60c, usually about 55c-58c. I was hoping to get a Rx 580 or the newer Vega 56 cards but due to mining, I got tired of waiting and pulled the trigger on this ASUS GTX 1060 3gb card. Anyway is was a fun little revamp of an older machine.

I'm not sure, would I see a big improvement? I would have to get a new MB, ram, and CPU. That would be about $500 more dollars. Maybe wait til Ryzen 2 comes out. If were to get a new chip it would be the Ryzen 1600 or 1600x.

I thought about it, but I didn't want to spend the extra money. I am wanting a Vega 56, then I will pass this card down to replace my AMD 6950, that's in my son's computer.

Vega 56 isn't too bad but your better off with a 1070 or 1080

Dont think there's any point replacing your gtx 1060 with another 1060 now. If you're getting the performance you want hang in there till next generation nvidia cards/ryzen 2/intel 8xxx appear.
