Description

a fully watercooled build without a custom loop (shame on me!!). it gives me a bit more flexibility in swapping parts and i think it is not that bad looking. i 'dremeled' two evga hybrid kits to fit on the two 1080ti pcb's; delidded the 7700K; made the evga shroud led asus aura sync compatible; modified the case top chamber to fit the kraken rad there; vinyl wrapped ssd and psu and used acrylic sheets to get a cleaner look. the vented front (for better airflow), rog fan grill and the gpu holders are from mnpctech.com. all in all, this pc is cool, quiet and super fast =).

Wow! Great build, similar aesthetics to mine, same cooler, evga hybrid, 6 HD120s, same case, lots of LED strips, I even have the acrylic panels! As much as I don't want to copy, that vented front looks great with the fans and improved airflow. You might have just convinced me to buy one!

I LOVE IT. I actually like the fact it's not a custom loop. I think it looks better. The only thing I would really change is a different blue. I don't really think it matches well with a kraken/sea theme. I think a Sea Green would look nice for this build.

It may not be a full custom loop but in this case I think you're better off with non custom because of the beautiful tubes on AIO coolers and how well they fit the style of the build. +1 indeed!

I like the look of the formula :D and I think the higher clocked 7700K (5+GHz) can handle the two 1080ti's slightly better in terms of gaming. Maybe I check out the rumored x390 or skylake-x later. :)

I think Ryzen itself is quite good and would handle the 2 1080ti's better because there are more cores for each graphics card, however the platform (AM4+) is pretty trash to be honest. It's quite disappointing of a socket, but the Processors are good. I was thinking about getting it, but I like my 4790k and 5 pci-e 3.0 sockets enough that I'm not going to downgrade my socket to sidestep my processor.

did you seriously put an AIO unit on a Formula motherboard.... you say it gives you the flexibility of swapping out parts but why on earth would you be needing to switch out any hardware? love the build, but can't wrap my head around not going full custom water loop on hardware like this~

:D yes, maybe the maximus code would be the "better/cheaper" option in my case, but i like to have the possibility to go fully custom water inc. vrm later (maybe in another build) and the built-in io shield is a cool feature. But for now I don't see the 'real' benefits of a custom loop to justify the extra 1000$, because the pc is silent and fast operating..

& and I totally agree, the Formula is one bad mobo and if they had one for it in X79 I would have chosen that as well even if I wasn't going full custom loop.. its just something about the aesthetics of a custom loop that puts it in another tier, and with hardware like this it fully deserves a beautiful PETG custom loop :) still a solid build, you have my +1

Question: How much does the AIO pipes press against the RAM? I have the VIII Formula, with the same RAM (non-RGB) and am concerned, because I've seen photos of the AIO pipes pushing against the RAM. Should I be worried?

I really like the formula board and at this point the 7700K is the better overall performer for gaming and i don't have to deal with early adopter bugs of a new platform. but you are right, for a mixed gaming/workstation scenario the ryzen may be the better option.

Since I am looking to make my PC fully RGB, I want your opinion on the case fans I should get. Are the NZXT AER RGB or the Corsiar HD120 RGB fans better in your opinion. Also is the NZXT HUE + compatible with the fans you have because I was wondering what route I should go in terms of syncing all the lighting. Thx.

Hey, I really like the look of the corsair HD's and bought a Corsair Node Pro only to get software controllable fans. In my opinion the HD's are a bit better looking and are the slightly better radiator fans. For better sync I would suggest you go with aer fans. I have to use NZXT CAM, ASUS Aura and Corsair Link Software to get control over my lighting effects. One software/ one lighting controller for all is way more convenient, so you don't have to mess around with 3 buggy programs rather only one.

I am using push pull with the vented front panel and it makes definitely more noise, but it does not disturb me. Overall it is still quiet. Maybe a piece of your case/sheet of metal is vibrating. I don't know..

3+2 intake fans and 4 exhaust fans. all fans at low rpm settings, low temps and no issues with dust. =)

Yes, I think so. It is a tight fit in the modded top chamber. You may remove the dust filter mesh from the top cover to improve airflow a bit. Something like this would be ideal: https://modmymods.com/phanteks-enthoo-evolv-atx-replacement-top-cover-air-flow-mod-black.html

Were you running a push/pull setup for the GPU radiators? I wasn't able to see where you placed them, and I am assuming you had the radiators sandwiched between two HD120s in the front of the case.

Hello ! I want to buy a power supply 1000 T2 evga . At what aproximate load in watts % and what temp do you think your psu fan is starting ? And at what load it's starting to be bothering-the fan ?

you may check the last picture to see where I needed to cut the metal. This is only needed if you want to use the optional evga shroud for a cleaner look. you can mount the pump itself to the stock nvidia cooler plate if you don't want to play around with a dremel, like gamers nexus does here and there. But this looks a bit 'ghetto' ;D.

installing m.2 on asus mobo is very confusing and tricky it needs csm "disabled" however he also have 2 ssd's so im asking how did he installed windows on 3 drives cause ssd doesnt need "csm disabled". but h does have m.2 and 2 ssd's thats why im asking how he installed OS.
