This was my first build since 2006. I had built a PC before but since the last one, technology had changed a lot and I had to research for a few days in order to choose the components. I must admit, I based my choices on certain brands. ASUS and Corsair, as they are premium manufacturers and I wanted my build to have a consistent theme.
The parts arrived in batches spread over a week or 2, so it was rather annoying as I really wanted to get stuck in but this is what happens when you buy from different sources.
The actual build went pretty ok. I did have a couple of issues which has since been resolved thanks to Mr Google and searching related PC Tech forums.
1) The ASUS Z270i mobo doesn't have an internal USB 2.0 header so there was no connection for the AIO cooler link cable. I actually sorted this by having to order a external USB to internal USB adapter cable on ebay. I routed this through the back panel (Through the fan screw hole) and into an external USB port.
2) The H100iV2 fan RPM wasn't displaying in the corsair Link software. I discovered that you have to turn off Q-Control in BIOS so that the cooler get 100% power from the mobo. The Corsair Link software then controls the speed and revs of the AIO.
2)BIOs Aura lights wasn't being detected by software initially. But a BIOs update sorted this.
3)The NZXT Manta has a built in Fan hub and it was really confusing to set up due to the basic instructions. Initially the FAN RPMs weren't showing in BIOS. After about a day of researching, The answer was simple, I hadn't got a PWM fan connected. My corsair case fans were all 3 pin. I had to buy a PWM Fan (beQuite! Silent Wings 3 PWM) and I replaced the rear NZXT case fan and connected it to the HUB and problem solved.
Anyway, I am still tinkering with this build and so far it has exceeded my expectations. I play CSGO and Rainbow six Siege and they play great on MAX Settings. Just a niggle is that I feel I should be getting more FPS with this card. CSGO i'm only getting 130 FPS and it drops to 60FPS at certain points. Im not sure if this is normal or not. I have done what I can, enabled gSync and calibrated my monitor GPU refresh rate to 144hz, updated latest driver etc but its not improving.
so my google research continues...
