My second (kind of) custom watercooling loop. I wanted to do a purple build for a long time. I was able to part this out using mostly used parts over roughly a year.
My first loop was in my S340, but I wanted to get a new case, so I bought this Thermaltake P5 off Craigslist for $90. I transferred my custom loop over and redid some of the bends but I was running out of tubing and tried to make it work and did some really bad bends which ended up cracking before I filled it. A week later my new tubing arrives, I redo most of the bends and finally am ready to use my computer and BAM, my radiator starts leaking, so I order a 360mm radiator and 3 more fans instead of a new 240 because if I'm redoing it, might as well get better cooling performance. Finally I finished all the bends and my beautiful rig is done. Now that it's done I think I've drained and refilled this loop at least 6 times. On the plus side, I'm getting pretty good at bends and at maintenance.
I mostly use this for gaming, but I also do photography as a hobby so this build is also my workstation for school and photography. Wasn't planning on getting a 5930k but I got a bundle on the CPU, motherboard and RAM on Craigslist that was too good to pass up.
I used vinyl to make the pattern on the SSD. Then I cut some acrylic and sketched out a owl pattern which I cut onto vinyl and painted over on the acrylic to make the backplate on the graphics card. I also custom sleeved the power supply myself which ended up taking almost 14 hours, I blew a capacitor on one of the cables and bought a new capacitor and soldered it on which ended up being fine.
It's been a lot of work but I'm so happy with the build, it looks amazing and runs like a dream.
The CPU stabilizes at 75C under prime95, and the GPU stabilizes at 50C if I 100% stress it for an hour.
This CPU rips through any workload I've thrown at it, has overclocked surprisingly well and performs amazingly in games.
I wish it had a few more fan headers, but that's my only complaint. Can run 3-way SLI if I for some reason wanted to, can handle 2 m.2 drives, solid IO with plenty of USB ports, overclocks well and has been very stable.
Solid budget SSD, I'd like to get a faster one in the future though.
Mass storage is always nice, I got a crazy deal on this and it's done its job.
God, the 1080 is an absolute monster of a card, especially under water. It's been crushing high refresh rate 3440x1440.
Looks gorgeous, there aren't any tie downs on the back of the case for some reason, and the holes are misaligned for half the thumbscrews to secure the back panel and the bracket for the pump only works for Thermaltake pumps so I couldn't mount mine there to fill the space better, but those are minor things and I'm very happy with it.
This was a ***** to sleeve due to double wires and capacitors, but it does it's job and usually doesn't even spin up even while gaming.
Wish I had gone for the PWM versions, but I was cheap and they're good fans for what they are.
I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. Wow...
I've had this for 5 years and it's going strong, the keyboard is a trooper and a dream to type on. The orange on the side was gross so I painted it white.
I love this mouse, it's comfortable and is highly customizable.
I upgraded to these from an $18 headset that lasted me 5 years, the sound quality is incredible and they're very comfortable.
