My first full build, works perfectly and achieves great settings in games.

CPU: AMD FX-8370, everyone told me not to go AMD for CPU, I did it anyway and do not regret it, works fine, and I have not run into any bottlenecking.

CPU Cooler: Water cooling this thing, for the possibility of OC'ing in the future.

Mobo: eh, pretty standard, nothing great/

Memory: I grabbed this memory on the cheap, about 27.99 when I purchased it, and it works well!

SSD: Used as a boot drive and for a select few games. PC boots in 8 seconds.

HDD: 1tb, will most likely upgrade in future.

GPU: R9 390, this thing is future proof due to the 8gb of VRAM, and performs excellently, I hope it will last me for a long time.

Case: I hated this damn thing. Dont get it. Very little space, cable management sucks, everything just is horrible. If i rebuilt this, I would go for a fractal case.

PSU: Basic, 700W, covers what I need.

Optical Drive: Got this purely for installing drivers that came on CD's.

Wireless: Necessary, as this mobo doesnt have included wireless, I do use ethernet most of the time, but its good to have.

Case fan: crappy one, no fan control support, but its pretty quiet, and meets my needs.

Red LED's: Bought 2 molex LED strips from China. They give the PC it's dank look.

Did they tell you why not though? Or are they just naysaying? The reason behind why they said not to go with AMD's CPU is probably because the piledriver architecture is 4 years old, while Intel keeps banging out new architecture for their CPU every year... I know people running 1080p max settings on even the newer games at 60fps with a FX8350, I really don't think that CPU will bottleneck a 390 at all...

I bet you enjoyed bending those stiff tubes on that H60 in that tiny case, I did when I had to install one in a Spec-03 case :3~

Also probably due the 8XXX being out performed by a i5 4460 and all of the FX series being out by the i5 6500 and probably due to a i5 begin cheapest overall.

And the fact that they draw 40% more power from your PSU...

AMD lost a lot of money from their APU project, which is probably why they can't do what Intel can... Hopefully Zen will turn the tides to be in their favor a little :D!

Man, skylake CPU's came out last year, it's obviously going to be better... To be honest, even i5 4460 came out 2 years ago, comparing it to a 4 y/o architecture is slightly unfair.

The i5 6400 is better than the i5 4460, check so it would also out perform the fX 9590. I'm not just a big fan of recommending it due to the i5 6500 only costing about $16 less and the i5 6500 being a bit better.

Oh lord, that was the biggest issue I had. It took forever to get the pipes not to kink, and the PC shut down multiple times under load because of CPU overheating.

Yeah cheap OS better be from either a previous multiple key purchase, reusing your old key, or the old student discount. EAir flow is awful, the components that could be passively cooled, receive 90% of all intake, and the parts that actually need that airflow, like the GPU's get nothing. Its unfortunate and causes them to ramp up quite high to keep temps down.

Easiest way to get something removed is to talk about illegal or questionable purchases.

The keys were from what manirelli calls "grey market" and I cant talk about them here :P.

Air flow is awful, the components that could be passively cooled, receive 90% of all intake, and the parts that actually need that airflow, like the GPU's get nothing. Its unfortunate and causes them to ramp up quite high to keep temps down.

I would cool it better, but the tight case makes it tough. I have 2 120mm fans packed into the front of the case however, and temperatures appear to be normal.

I don't know really. Within the next ~2 years I will most likely upgrade the CPU and godawful case, but the motherboard isn't that great, and I doubt it would support Zen, as it doesn't support anything higher than 8370. (with that said, Im not even sure if Zen CPU's will be on the AM3 socket, haven't heard much about them). So I will probably have to end up upgrading the motherboard, and if I do that, I will probably end up going for intel rather than AMD, unless AMD pulls off miracles with Zen.

That CPU will be as good as an i7 once directx12 and Vulkan are more mainstream. It already performs comparably in hitman.
