Description

I built this mainly for trading but also some gaming on the side. I didn't intend to go all out with this at first but I was so impressed with some of the other builds on here I kind of went a little overboard but I don't regret any of it. This PC is a beast and I couldn't have done it without this site. You guys are just amazing and extremely helpful.

I successfully overclocked it to 5.0ghz using the one click setting in the EasyTune app from Gigabyte. I may mess with the manual settings to see how far I can push it but for now this is stable and my CPU temps never get above 79C unless I have too many charts up in my trading platform. The highest I've seen was at 80C but the 9 fans kick in at 79C at full speed and temps drop almost immediately. VRAM has never been above 43C as far as I'm aware (I have an alert set at 42C and it's only gone off 2 or 3 times). RAM is running at the advertised specs of 3200mhz after setting the XMP in the bios but I have not tried overclocking it yet. I did try my hand at overclocking the GPU but I ran into some stability issues so I kinda gave up for now but I'll probably mess with it again in the future. It seems to be maxing out at 1515mhz currently and is very stable and temps remain under 40C even under load.

Games run smooth even with NVDA Surround on all 3 monitors and just looks incredible at 144hz, although AMD's Eyefinity was so much easier to set up on my old PC. Now there's just too many clicks involved just to get surround turned on. Then I have to do the same steps in reverse to disable it. Just a real PITA compared to what I'm used to.

The hardest part of this build was getting all the wires to fit so I could install the back panel. It was a pain but in the end I managed to make it happen. I also ran out of fan ports and internal USB ports on my MB so I had to get an internal USB hub and a fan splitter so that just added to the mess of wires I had to manage lol.

I will be adding more pictures soon.

I love how absolutely dominating your desk is compared to your partner's lol

Haha I'm the only one who uses the office so that side is just for when I need a little extra desk space for paperwork and such. My wife didn't even want the PC displayed on the desk until she saw it all lit up for the first time lol

Looking to build something similar - are the internal USB Hub, Cable Extension Kit and Y cable required?

  • 1 point

White cable extension is not required, only for aesthetics.

Internal USB hub is only required if you have RGB fans and chose not to purchase the commander pro but, instead, use the Corsair Link hubs that come with each 3 pack of RGB fans (I bought 2 of the 3 packs of RGB fans and 3 RGB fans individually because I did not need a third hub). Each hub needs it's own USB header as well as the water cooler needing it's own (total of 3 headers required for this setup). If you get a MB that already has more than 2 headers then this is not an issue.

The Y cable is only needed if you have 9 fans with this MB. I believe I have 6 headers total. 3 fans from the radiator get connected to the water cooler three-fan extension so that only takes up 1 header to be able to connect 3 fans. This leaves you with only 5 more fan headers but 6 fans left to connect and that's where the Y cable is needed, to get that last fan to work.

Sorry for the late reply. Here it is:

I got the left and right version of it and put them side by side and then got the center desk to put in the middle of the room.

How's the 9900k and 2080 combo treating you? I currently have a 9700k in my list, but I may go to the 9900k because it's only $80 more.

So far they are treating me well but keep in mind I am upgrading from an FX-8320 and RX 460 after 3 years so to me the performance is night and day. That performance increase may also be due, in part, by my OS being installed on the NVMe as well so I really have no idea.

I'm not sure how the 9700k runs but the 9900k sure is tough to keep cool during high loads so I may eventually consider doing a custom loop. Initially I was going to actually get the 8700k but the 9900k happened to be on sale so I convinced myself that I would be future-proofing my build by shelling out an extra $100 or so...

Yeah, I've heard about the cooling ordeal that is the 9900k. I have the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 in my build, so I think it should be fine. My list is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nJsTKB

Wow that thing is massive! Looks like it would work very well because of it though.

If you end up completing that build I'd love to know the results.

Thanks! I think I'm gonna go for the 9700k just because I want to overclock and not change my psu. Thanks for the help though!

Nice build! You turned your desk into a desk you would see on a ETrade commerical or something lol.

How many fans did your case come with?

What are you trading? Crypto, stocks etc.

  • 1 point

Thank you!

This case doesn't come with any fans, unfortunately. I was aware of that when I purchased it but couldn't care less because, as sexy as this case is, the price is pretty reasonable compared to other similar designs IMO.

I trade strictly options but on rare occasions I will also trade common shares if it is more appealing than what the options chain looks like of that particular name. No crypto for me. I do own some but I never trade it.

No problem!

I think I remember hearing about that now that you said no fans were included. That's kind of a bummer since you drop $130-150 on the case alone.

Smart move. Crypto is not for day trading, especially with how the market is right now. I invested before everyone's grandmother invested. It's definitely a long term investment.

Well my goal was to hold for 7-10 years but I took the risk and sold some. I lost out lol. It's all good though. Risk verse reward is part of the game. Whatever I have now, it's a pure hold now.

  • 1 point

Yup risk is the name of the game and knowing when to take that risk off is the hardest part of trading. Happens to the best of us. But at the end of the day as long as your profits are greater than losses then you're already ahead of the pack.

Gets a $3000 pc but gets a$10 mouse lol.

  • 1 point

Haha I knew someone would point that out eventually.

I bought this mouse to use with my old PC and before I was even thinking about building a new one. I just so happen to like this cheap mouse so much that I didn't really see the need to "upgrade."

The thing I love about it is that it's pretty heavy for a mouse and definitely doesn't feel like a $10 mouse to me and I'm not afraid to admit it lol.

Nice I have a really old Dell mouse with reprogrammible side buttons and I like the fit of it even though people tell me all the time get a better mouse.

What trading software do you use?

you should try the new i9 9900KS processor at 4.00 base clock and 5.00 boost clock and also if you have the money because it might end up being $1,300, an RTX 2080 TI with SLI because it will increase the performance by a big amount
