You should've waited, ryzen came out. Hope you can upgrade one day.

If you gotten a b350 mobo for $90 you could have gotten a 1500x. The psu is overkill. Good price on the 480 though.

You could of done better on that 480 ive seen 8gb models for the same price

It's a nice build, but you should've held out a little longer for a ryzen cpu. +1 nonetheless.

Apart from getting a overkill PSU and not choosing greately for the motherboard, you still have a solid build.

That's actually one of the better motherboards on the AM3+ platform. My son currently has that one with his FX8350 and it's given him absolutely no problems.

I don't think 750w is overkill for a PSU, his system right now is probably pulling 350-400w from the wall when gaming, and the extra headroom makes sure that not only is the PSU not working full load all the time, but also that he/she has headroom for future upgrades. I.e. more powerful graphics card, overclocking, or SLI/crossfire.

I learned a long time ago that if there is one component you want to overbuild when putting together a gaming computer, its the power supply. It's the backbone of the PC.

You are spot on with the MB! i have the same one and haven't had any issues with it. i believe that you grossly overpaid for the 8350, i have seen them around $95-100 since AM4 platform came out. How long ago did you buy it?

AZSnakeyez submitter 1 Build 1 point 9 days ago

I bought the 8350 and MB back in November last year from a combo deal on newegg

I did some research and know I know more about the AM3+ platform, although at a PC at that price it would have been more practical to go with DDR4 memory, and there are many lower priced platforms like the 110M and B250M platforms which are known to be good budget build motherboards.

Although it's very practical to get a PSU that gives you room to improve, there are many scenarios where it ends up being a waste or not needed, so it's also good to get a PSU that doesn't exceed rapidly the power you need for your PC. Of course, people can buy whatever they want.

Thanks for your opinion!

FX lives on! Good first build. For sure there are newer better options but this will do well. The only thing i can actually comment on is that 1TB drive. It will fill up fast!. Maybe opt for a 2 or 4TB version in the future. You could get a decent O.C. on that 8650 too.
