Description

Wanted something a little better than my Inspiron laptop for doing design work (CAD). Might also fire up a few games if I get the time. The FX-6300 is great bang for your buck, I'm running mine at 4.2 GHz on the water cooler and this seems stable so far. Love the case, awesome cable management options. This setup crushes Solidworks '14 demands with no problems as of yet. Should have sprung for a larger SSD, 128 GB fills up fast. 16 GB RAM just because. I thought the blue LED fans would be a cool touch, I actually hate them and will replace them with something more subtle when I get the chance.

EDIT:

Found a new in box i5-4690k for $100 on CL, no-brainer upgrade from the FX-6300, obviously had to switch the MOBO as well.

Actually just a generic $9.99 job from Best Buy, pretty nice for the money actually.

Is your top fan an intake or exhaust? You should have the top fan blow out due to the heat rising. Otherwise, great build. The 270x is still a great card. +1

the fact that heat rises is actually relatively unimportant once you have fans blowing everything around, but tower coolers and the way gfx card coolers are oriented usually are geared for top/rear exhausted cases (though you can usually flip around a tower cooler to blow however you want it to and radiators are even more versitial)

(Noctua & Corsair just to name a couple big brands)

Corsair LED fans are just stupidly overpriced. Their non LED fans are good but get super loud.

Dangit Corsair...

i have led corsair fans in my case, i got them for around $10 on ebay, just because i couldnt find the exact ones i was looking for from the companies on this website. i can not hear them at all at idle, and slightly under load but its definately tolerable. nice build btw!
