Description

UPDATE 20/Dec/2014

Bought a pair of razer 7.1 tiamat headset to replace the broken blacksharks. The headset is extremely comfortable but the mic is not great but usable, wish it could be more flexible. It also has a control unit which is nice.

UPDATE 12/Dec/2014

Decided it is time to OC the CPU and see what it is capable of. As i am still a beginner at OCing i didnt want to do anything too drastic or push it too far. Originally the cpu was running at 4400mhz at around 50 degrees underload. so i went into bios and slowly ramped up the core ratio from 44 to 47. Stressed test the system with aida64 for around 30mins at 4.7ghz (core voltage was about 1.277v), the temp stayed around the high 60s to the low 70s at 40% fan speed (still really quiet, rad fans r in a push/pull config).

UPDATE 30/Aug/2014

added some better photos

This build is for my school project also a reason to build a high end pc :) there will be more detailed shots in a couple days time when i get my hands on a DSLR. current crappy photos r just temporary taken with my phone.

CPU- Had my eyes on this cpu for a while now, finally able to purchase it pretty damn powerful. Does well with after effects and photoshop,

cooler- always like the kraken series more than corsair's. It cools a bit better and just prefer the overall design and the hue RGB controller

mobo- a nice cheapish z97 board with the red dragon suit which suits my colour scheme.

ram- once again i like g.skills especially how most of their ram r red also decently priced and reliability.

storage- went with 840 evo...nuff said. also the 2 x 2tb 7200rpb hd. Was initially planning to raid 1 them but after some consideration, gonna use them as two separate drives.

gpu- ALL HAIL ROG, wanted the gpu to be future proof for a long time before i have to upgrade again. many people said i shouldve waited for the 800 series but just because a new series is coming out doesnt mean it will outperform its predecessor, am i right peeps?

psu- a nice full modular evga psu with hybrid fan control

headphone- my friend was nice enough to give me his old pair of blacksharks for free since he recently upgraded. yay :)

also as this is a school project, if you dont mind leave an overall rating of this build out of 10 and some constructive criticism which i will add to my final report to be handed up and marked, thanks all.

Very nice, yet i think a Corsair CPU cooler would continue the theme inside non the less +1.

BTW: I WANT TO GO TO THAT SCHOOL

Edit: I think you paid too much for that GPU... A normal DCU2 card would have been a better option IMO.

MSI Gaming 780ti would have looked nice too. I doubt the 880s are going to be that much better than 780tis if they are on the GM204 chip.

They probably aren't. I just hope the specs that are leaked are't the actual specs because they seem a bit crappier.

Nice job 9 out of 10, Skynet might be a Fallout reference, but its really a Terminator reference, thats what started it all, when your parents seen the bill for this build, I bet there was some FALLout in there drawers, +1, and the coolest school project ever!!!!

I will give the build a 10/10. Looks good and solid wire management. You probably wasted money on the AS5 paste though and the DCUII and MSI gaming 780ti match a red/black theme pretty well.

Great build. I'd be silly not to say 10/10. There's really nothing negative to say when you picked all of the high end pieces and put them together, barring a Xeon chip, haha. Cable management is great. Personally, I would have gone with the black 760T because it matches your color scheme better with the red LED fans that come with it and you'd save $20 ( ~1% of your overall cost :P) Still, great job and this machine will last you a long time.

Very sweet looking build. Similar components to mine.

I love that case. I was wanting that case, and I heard Corsair was relesin them last Feberuary and they never did, so I pulled the trigger on my 750D, which is a very nice case, huge, and i got a smoking deal for it.

How are you liking that K70 keyboard?

This is an excellent build with a good choice of quality components.

Coolest school project ever!

Excellent choice of parts. My only (tiny) criticism is the case for aesthetics. The black would have suited it so much better but it is your build and yours alone so I'm sure you had a reason. Very clean to! (that cable management..magnificent!)
