Description

First custom WC build! My goal was to create something that looked clean on AND off, as I'm not a fan of most RGB parts which look white when you turn the led lights off (if you get tired of them). I also wanted to show AMD some love while moving away Intel/Nvidia. Ah, how I've missed you AMD. OCing & getting acclimated again with AMD has been smooth sailing thus far.

The build process went as expected, although it took me a little bit to get the bends correct for the inlet/outlet on the pump as it was my first time doing custom WC, let alone bending PETG. The Meshify C Mini was honestly a pleasure to work in & the Freezemod fittings just can't be beat for the price. I think I spent more time pre-planning the build so I didn't hit any snags than actually building it, nevertheless, everything turned out great :)

Overclocking/Temps:

2950x temps: Full load after 2 hours = 55C w/4.175ghz all-core PBO , 54C with manual 4.2ghz all-core 1.4v

Vega 64 crossfire temps: 4K ROTTR max settings after 2 hours 50c/45c (Undervolted core & HBM to 1v, hovers around 1600mhz w/ hbm @ 1050mhz)

XPG D10 32GB DDR4: So far I've reached 3400mhz stable @ the stock timings. Needing only 4 dimms to populate all the slots on the Asrock X399M definitely helps out. I think I have some more room to spare, so I'll see where I can get with the timings etc

Update: Uploaded some more pics! Haven't had time to do in-depth benchmarks yet with OC's but here's my TimeSpy Extreme link

Having only two pics of this beautiful build is like frying a plate of bacon but only letting me smell it.

DaMysteryMan 1 Build 6 points 3 months ago

What are you talking about, the smell is the best!

Eltech 20 Builds 5 points 3 months ago

May I ask why the PSU is a custom part?

octiny submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

No prob! The 1300w version of the G2 does not show up on PCPP for some reason.

Feature?

TGND 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

Great pictures. This is quite this glorious build. The build looks amazing, but something about it with no lights on looks awesome... (Not hating on RGB, by the way, just thought the build no lights on looks nice.)

octiny submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Completely agree! Which is pretty much why I wanted a no color scheme while it was off instead of instead of doing a black & red theme. That way I could still show some AMD love with red leds & turn them off when I get tired of them.....better than being stuck with a bunch of red parts! Easier for future upgrade color matching too.

TGND 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

Great idea. Also love the AMD representation. No doubt that it's all AMD. Even though I went with Intel (because it was all that was available at the time) I definitely would have gone with AMD.

LIVE_AMMO 2 points 3 months ago

16 cores and x2 whopping Vega 64's crammed into a micro mesh C with a gorgeously clean custom loop - sounds like a delicious emirati 7-star dish served on a gold plate.

After seeing this I could eat a whale!

+1

Nice Threadripper build, love the hardline tubing, i tried to make mine look hardline-ish with soft tubing, check it out https://pcpartpicker.com/b/PYzYcf. How do you like the dual Vega Crossfire setup? How does it scale with current titles? I have a 2080 right now that I am stepping-up to a 2080 Ti and in a few months then when I have some extra money I am planning on going SLI 2080 TI.

Nater650 3 points 3 months ago

You might want to re-think your plans, SLI might not be worth it anymore

twofishh_ 1 point 2 months ago

i was wonder what vega waterblocks those were because i cant seem to find them, if you could post a link for me to check them out that would be great

octiny submitter 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

EK FC RGB Vega. They've discontinued all other Vega EK blocks besides this one for the reference model, 2 different ones still available for the Strix model. Out of stock until middle of Feb. unfortunately. Note, I purchased the EK backplates separately as well.

Hello!

Thank you for listing as much info as you did, it's a fantastic build and it's inspired me to build a custom loop of my own. I do have a question, I can't for the life of me find the pump/reservoir combo that you listed on the freezemod website. Could you link me to it? I am building in the same case, and I would like that same setup due to the size restrictions.

Thank you so much!
