Description

This beauty was purely built for gaming, entertainment, schoolwork, and did I mention gaming? While she looks gorgeous and runs everything i throw her way now, i did have some problems with the original parts. My initial build sported the cost efficient and reasonably powerful (Gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 rev 4), and boy do i have a bunch of crap to say about this thing. First off, I couldn't even get power to it, no led's, fans, beeps, or anything. I was really hoping it would just spontaneously combust just to prove to me that I plugged everything in correctly, but of course with my luck nothing happened. Well I ended up RMAing it just to find that the next one i got had the exact same issue. After receiving 2 bad mobos in a row I decided to drop it and go with the (Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+) best mobo in the world/ able to run over with a car and still function/ 4 YEAR WARRENTY/ dreammaker. Recieved the new mobo, built the computer without any flaws, NEVER buying a Gigabyte Motherboard again. Now that I've gotten that out of the way lets talk about performance. As you can see from the side data, she runs explicitly cool, almost to the point where I'm afraid my CPU is going to develop frost bite and crumble into a million pieces just like what i wanted to do that that motherboard. When running games,(Sniper Elite 3, Payday 2, Just Cause 2, Planetside 2, Archeage) everything is maxed out at 60fps+, so yea its pretty powerful. Now while at this moment i don't have all of the games i want because this basically bankrupted me, i'm getting Borderlands Pre-Sequel, Far Cry 4, BF4, Arma 3, and some other ones to make all the torment i received worthwhile. I will keep everyone posted on the specs of any new games i get because a lot of people on here would like to get a reference on the fps and performance they would receive if choosing some of these parts. Thanks for reading this post and happy computing!

+1 for AMD! SO many people look past their CPUs and GPUs even though they are very powerful.

Might want to move that GPU up to the top slot to get the most out of it :)

Also, the power GPU chords would be much easier to route if it was in the top spot, instead of it reaching down so far from the cable management hole.

+1

Just checked and all three slots are x16 2.0 so he should be fine performance wise. Also looks like water cooler would block top slot.

Moved the Gpu up to first slot.

I not sure how you are reaching 10 degree idle temps with an H55 but whatever... lol and Oh my god, like people have been saying, please move your gpu to the top slot. You are running it in an electronic x4 slot right now... (I checked in your mobo manual) That is a massive downgrade in performance. I'm surprised it even runs.

Thanks for the GPU advice, ill try that when i get home. Also, their are 2 cpu temps, ones the cpu which runs around 30C, and the other is the core which runs 10-20C idle. So im just guessing that the Cpu temp at 30 is the actual cpu, while the core temp at 10-20C are the actual cores. Does that sound right, im still new to computing.

No problem. That's a bit funky but it makes a bit of sense. lol Still some good temps.

First off it makes me happy seeing more people giving AMD a fair shake since even though the FX chips are getting a little old they still are worth their weight in performance. Happy gaming!

I suppose you prove the old saying "Your Mileage May Vary" Because over the last 2 years I've built 200+ systems for clients using the GIGABYTE board without the need to RMA a single unit yet within that same time frame the 50 systems I've built using the ASUS board 8 of them had to be RMA'd.

just FYI for anyone reading this, GIGAYBTE has the absolute lowest RMA% on the market for motherboards with both AMD and Intel meaning you have the least amount of chance of it breaking or not working over any other brand. http://gigabytedaily.blogspot.com/2013/05/gigabyte-motherboards-have-lowest-rma.html

I noticed something. Either you chose the wrong ram, or your motherboard is slowing it down. It would slow it down anyways because it only supports 1866 speed ram, but you paid for 2133 and you're only receiving 1600 as said in the bios.

That motherboard says it only supports 1866, but with the latest bios update and a lil overclock, im running mine at around 2310mhz easy. Same motherboard and processor. Dont let people fool you, that Sabertooth MB, IMO, is the best AM3+ MB you can buy.

But in the bios pic it literally says 1600mhz.

If you look at HIS picture, it literally says in the bios that HIS ram is only running at 1600mhz. Meaning something is wrong on HIS end.

Lol, my bad. Jumped right into fan-boy mode. I thought you were saying that MB would not clock the memory higher than 1866. In order to successfully overclock you memory on this motherboard, you need to scale the hyper transport with it. At least, that is what I have found to be most successful. Once again, my bad.

I am interested to see AMD's new Gpu's coming out soon to see what they have to compete with the 970 and 980

i like the build but like sheepzorable said move the gpu to get the most out of it. and also the cable mangement bruh it alright but it could be better i suggest you watch newegg.tv on youtube video about the best way to mange your cable in a custom build. and try to pick up a cheap ssd in the future maybe. but this is a great build i like the amd very good for being almost 4 years old now +1111

Sir, how about putting an SSD? to make your PC more faster. :)

Weird you had two bad 990FXA-UD3s in a row. I got two good ones (current build has one in it) and swear by them. Bad luck friend!

Same, I have the Sabertooth 990fx, I dislike it. Done two builds with the UD3 and it's a much better board and better looking for the price. :/ Wish I'd known...lol

My 8350/Sabertooth build with a Kraken x61 on it ;) Nice build though, +1!
