lol I'm just going to be honest and say I'm downvoting this because miners annoy me, because they drive up the prices of AMD gpus. We are all thinking it, at least I admit it.

we've all said it elsewhere already as well, no need to repeat ourselves

Would it not have been cheaper and easier to put a pair of 280X's into one mining system, as opposed to having to buy another CPU, another motherboard, another stick of RAM, and another case?

or just not do it at all and save $1400+

True, though some could say that about gaming PC's.

True, true. Just a quick question, why do people here not like Bitcoin miners?

Because these days the electricity used to power rigs for mining is more expensive than the money you make doing it. Additionally, miners have driven up the price of graphics cards a lot of gamers want to use for their intended purpose...gaming.

good point. It depends on what you need.

Doesn't really scale up to 3+ cards.. Boards get more and more pricey and heat becomes a huge headache. I didn't want a ghetto rig.

Also: Endgame is I pull the GPUs, ebay them and stuff those cute little chassis with disks in RAID5..

In my opinion, mining is a waste of resources. But that's just me.

The thing is that it's not a matter of opinion though. Either money is made or it is not.

This is true. However, I have always felt as if it was not the best investment.

I personally believe it is not worth it to build a separate rig for mining, but using one you already have is ok I guess...

Yeah, exactly.

But graphics cards are obsolete nowadays, at least for bitcoins.

I feel as if buying an asics would be cheaper.

Did I just see a 280X paired with a Pentium!? And just 1 picture too.

I've got to ask, what type of crypto currency are you mining? Last I looked into it, none looked to be profitable in comparison to the amount of power used. Now if you could get the computer to run on solar power..... :)

Dogecoin, mostly. Mining other coins, but mostly selling it for Doge.

Do miners still make money even if someone else is paying their electricity bill? Or is it unprofitable even then?
