This is the first pc build (and its about 95% complete, hard to source old pc case parts) I've done so be gentle... that being said, any criticism is welcomed. Started out with buying the vr headset and realising that my old (then current) pc would not cut it as it only had a gtx 660 ti, intel 2600k and 16 GB ddr3 ram. I had a white sleeper build in mind. Basically went to pcpartpicker.com to figure out what was compatible with what and went from there price checking every part. I went AMD instead of intel because I wasn't as familiar with it and the cpu was cheap enough at the time. I'll try my best at explaining what I found performance wise but as I've only just built it I havn't had much time to use it.
Cpu: Ryzen 7 - 8 cores, 3.7ghz with the ability to overclock (I think it was up to 4.3ghz). So I have plenty of head room later on if need be.
Motherboard: MSI titanium B450M mATX - Good looking board with plenty of options! I required a 3.0 usb connection for my VR headset and it has 5 of them! Suited my colour scheme with it being white (also comes in black). Plenty of info for newbies such as myself in the manual. BIOs is very easy to understand and to adjust.
Ram: Corsair DDR4 3000mhz - Nice pretty RGB white ram. Not much else to say except it matches my build and corsair seem like a trustworthy name.
SSD: 500GB 970 Samsung evo M.2 NVME - Where has this been all my life?? Cannot recommend M.2 ssd enough! Super fast boot up speeds (15 seconds from pressing the power button to the desktop) and they're super small. Only downfall is that they're pretty expensive.
GPU: Galax RTX 2070 8GB - Very decent GPU with ray tracing (albeit there aren't many games out with that as of writing this review). So far it's been able to run any game maxed out and my VR without any stuttering or lag. Just wished I waited a month or so when the EVGA version was cheaper but happy nonetheless.
PSU: Corsair 750w 80+ gold - Good looking power supply with enough power for water cooling and a 2080 upgrade later on.
Wifi: TP-link AC1300 T6E - Not bad, hasn't cut out yet but it doesn't have bluetooth. Was meant to be temporary but it's staying now.
Case fans: Corsair SP120 (x3) and Noctua NF-R8 - Good fans pushes a decent amount of air and keeps everything cool. At full tilt it makes a bit of noise but it's easily ignored.
Case: Pentium 4 MTC - I saw this on gumtree and thought it would make a great sleeper! Turns out there's a tonne of room in there for water cooling and extra HDD's later on. Everything fit very well but hiding the wiring was a bit of a challenge. Had to make some necessary holes in the top, bottom and front to mount the fans. Finished it off with some stainless mesh. Pretty happy with how it turned out!
Monitor: LG 47" TV - Had this for a while and it'll do until I can afford one with a higher refresh rate.
Bluetooth: Some chinese usb adapter from ebay. Works well with my VR headset and xbox controller.
That's more or less it. Happy to answer questions on anything I missed etc.
