Description

Ok.

I know what you are thinking.

Just chill.

I am going to explain the pictures: It starts out in a case! It was some APEX DM case and it was horrible. But that's what I get for 10 dollars I guess. I could not stand it so I ripped everything out and I kinda left it on the floor and moped for days. Then. Then it hit me. I have a box and I have access to a saw! So i tried cutting out ventilation, places where wires need to go, and just kept at it. It actually worked out better than I expected, but its still pretty weird. I believe this is a "PC" - Portable Computer.

Im not sure how its going to work in terms of heat, but everything else seems fine so far. I used an excess of Zebra Duct tape, as I could not find anything else. I have suspended the MB in mid air just for some safety. In addition, there is no DVD drive! I took one out of a computer upstairs and simply loaded the operating system and then removed it. Eh. Probably a stupid decision, but I'll figure it out.

I'm not sure what this computer is for. It has the A10 which is actually supposed to be pretty nice for gaming, so I will try that out. I do think this build has potential when it comes to aesthetics and actual mechanics to the case. It would be nice to try this again with some concept of what I'm doing instead of attacking a plastic box with a hot knife.

Anyway.

I'm excited to see comments.

Oh and that screwdriver in the last picture is to turn it on. Since there is... you know.. no case.

Nice! I think I have the same Apex case somewhere too... I had to put it on blocks to open the front.

I'd be worried about static in this build - plastic bins are pretty bad for that. And hopefully you don't have pets... little kitty rubs up against the nice, warm bin and your RAM goes snap, crackle, pop!

Hmm, if you didn't cut holes in it you could have floated it in a bathtub for some real liquid cooling :)

The only thing this is missing is one of those oscillating room fans for cooling.

Very nicely improvised! I would think that the heat would get a little bit trapped in the box though... Please do tell us the results of the heat, if it works or not.

When you think about it, aren't all computers built in boxes to an extent? Some are just more... well... made for it than others.

Seems really cool but how are the temps? There's no GPU so im assuming not too much heat is building up inside your case

  • 1 point

Yep! I kinda lucked out by picking the APU for this.

so far, the one fan and the heatsink seem to be enough. It is cool enough

Can I borrow it? LOL! Very creative. Next take an old kind of TV. Remove all the insides, assemble a PC in it, then stick a flat screen panel in it. It can be a ghetto all in one.

This man could use a new case. +1 for making me laugh so hard :D

Also props for making this legit, but you should replace your PSU with like a Corsair CX 430w. Cmon people, it's only 19.99 after rebates!
