This is a recent rig I managed to put together with mostly used parts. It's an exceptional machine for gaming. I'd like to note I actually used a SPEC-03 Mid-Tower which is virtually the same but wasn't listed on the site. The Z170A wouldn't have been my first choice because of the infamous switch but it was pretty cheap. All the parts I got were either from Amazon or Craigslist. Craigslist is really what saved me the most cash, as down here in Houston the local market for computer parts is pretty affordable.

For a little over $500, this thing has a lot of bang for it’s buck.

Part Reviews

This i3 runs exceptionally well given its age and the fact there is only 2 cores. It pushes most of my AAA titles alongside an RX 480 in a budget rig and I see no bottleneck. At 3.8GHz and more than 4 when boosted its still an impressive processor after 2 years. If you can manage to get one at a good price go for it. However, a Ryzen 2200 or 1200 could easily beat it for a lot less brand new.

CPU Cooler

It may not be the best option at its price for a cooler, but it’s still a great option that has never failed any of my CPU’s and kept my i5-8400 at a solid 60c or below.

Nice job! I can definitely empathize with being frugal - you have some decent parts in there though.
