Description

This was my first pc build and I thought it would be neat to have all my builds on here and see my progression as a modder. This was about 2k one inch wooden cubes and 2 months of work. This was a really fun project as gluing cubes together was a relatively easy task but monotonous.

I won a few pc mod competitions with this and got in CPU Magazine and Nintendo Power!

Heres a timelapse video of when I built it (Note: 480p was the normal resolution to upload to youtube 11 years ago!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoUVgK65FIA Some of the photos are not the highest of quality due to the year and me not owning a real camera.

The components aren't 100% accurate as some of the hardware doesn't exist in the database anymore so I did my best to comparable tech as possible in the list. I highly recommend no one follows the part list to build their new PC!

As soon as I saw this, I knew it was you. I started following you on YT shortly after you posted the video on how you made this guy.. I felt like I woke up in 2008 when I got on PCPP and saw this was the featured build, lol.

Thats awesome that someone from that long ago recognizes this. I was going through my old harddrives and found my old photos and decided it would be a cool throwback to post this! I feel old looking at the photos now ha. I'm mainly 3D printing my pc cases now but keep the same theme. Thanks for sticking around on YT!

is it heavy? how much did it weight

  • 3 points

It was probably 60lbs with all the pc parts in it. The hat comes off to help for moving and taking a little bit of weight off. I just recently in the last year started 3D printing my new cases and they are way lighter!

1/3 of my upvote is for Windows XP in the background. Another 1/3 is for the "Chicks Dig Me" shirt. The last 1/3 is for the rig itself.

I've seen some cool stuff on this site, but nothing has invoked such childish excitement from me as this. Thank you, OP, for giving me such a flashback. I'm about to dig out my SP and fire up Tactics Advance again.

This is awesome, love the disc drive in the mouth lol. Gosh the nostalgia. Was this 8-Bit Theater inspired or were you just a big fan of black mages in general? Either way, it's very fun.

  • 2 points

I played a black mage in FFXI and always enjoyed the character in previous FF games. I did really like 8-Bit Theater though and posted it on the forums back then.

Can you add custom parts forthe ones not in the DB? Also old prices would be interesting though fully appreciate if this information is lost to time haha

  • 1 point

I was having a hard time finding all my email receipts that had the components so not too sure what the prices were at this point. It would be cool. I'm going to post more of my builds I did through out the years and will see if I can get more accurate cost of the parts back then.
