This is the 4th case my system has been housed in and gradually upgraded into what it is today. - please see my other builds if you are interested in its past.
It is still in the living room and is now used to power VR (Oculus Rift) as well as TV gaming at 4K
CPU - i7-4790 During its life in its original case I managed to swindle a free processor swap from an i5-4590 to an i7-4770, short story it was taken from a new work PC as we didn't need the computing power - hence the low price for this part. - Since then i again got hold of another PC and saw it had an i7-4790 so swapped this out!
CPU Cooler - H80i GT Great cooler, bought during its life in the CM Elite 130 case as i only had room for 120mm rad - I am tempted to go for a full custom loop next. - That is still the plan in this case with a 240mm rad up top and a 120 in the front.
Motherboard - Asus H97i-PLUS The first board i had wouldn't hold a date/time when power was unplugged (even with new battery) - RMA and a new board - has not missed a beat since. i do kind of wish i had gone with a Z board now - but i had no interest in overclocking at the time - next build will be an unlocked system. - In the new case it does look a bit small, but when the time comes for me to move on from H97 i will have space for MATX.
Memory - Corsair Vengance LP 16 GB Bought a used kit before the prices rocketed from a FB selling page - no issues so far with it and maxes out the speed of my board.
Storage - 3x Samsung 850 EVO SSD 1x 1TB WD Blue SSD's were gifted to me as used items by Father-in-law - One runs my OS, while frequently played games on the other two - anything else goes on my HDD
GPU - EVGA 1080ti FTW3
Purchased about a month ago, obviously it kicks *** at 4k and in VR no issues at all.
Case - Fractal Design Define Mini C TG So far the best of the 4 cases i have owned, finally gives me room for MATX , has better storage mounting options and i cant wait to do a custom loop!
PSU - EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 (EU) 650W 80+ Gold The system had been powered by a Corsair CSM 550w unit, until i bought the 1080ti, it powered this fine but as the minimum PSU requirement was a 600w i though an upgrade was sensible. I now have it running in eco mode and i dont think i have heard the fan once on it yet.
