Nice build however why 4x4GB ram? I've heard populating all 4 ram slots adds complications when overclocking, Don't quote me on this however Also I suggest getting an SSD, makes a world of difference.

the 4x4 ram does complicate Overclocking. and SSD are not cheap just saying

The hard drive and memory I brought over from my old build. I'll end up adding an SSD and most likely change out the ram eventually, but I put my resources into the stuff I really wanted to change

I'm looking into this CPU, how's she hanging in there for your gaming?

I have this cpu in my build, it handles every game i've tried without issue. it's a good balance of wattage per core and clock speed, and is easy to overclock should you feel the need to.

Great so far, can run arma 3 on ultra. Can't wait to dive into water cooling and seeing what Mhz I can push

I've heard those AMD's can OC like a pimp can slap.

I'm going to talk to someone today to get a better idea how to overclock. I'll let you know what I get to

Have that same exact case. How are you liking it so far?

Love it, quiet, sleek and has room for everything I need plus some things I don't

How Did you flash the bios for the MSI 970 GAMING motherboard? Does it not need a BIOS update to support the AMD FX-8350?

I hit F1 when the comp first started. It prompted me to, other than that I didn't have to do anything extra

I have the same case and motherboard and I had a quick question; the power LED connection isn't pictured the way it's supposed to in the motherboard manual and I've seen various pictures showing that the connection should be routed to the back panel. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind showing what that looks like as well as which audio connection to use, the "HD Audio" or the "AC'97". Sorry if it's a bit confusing, I'm just a bit flustered with this being my first build and all. Thanks!

Kinda sucks how you got a lower end, budget CPU instead of a more powerful i5 which are a better deal IMHO... Considering you could afford two GTX 970 Twin Frozr, spending a bit more on a different CPU would have been wise I think...

But that's my opinion.

I don't see 2 GPUs. I do see a single GTX 970 GPU and a 970 GAMING mobo, but maybe I'm missing something?

Nah, you're not missing anything. It's easy to make that mistake though lol. I just about made it myself.

IMO, AMD processors don't get the respect they deserve. Yeah, Intel performs better, but that doesn't mean AMD doesn't make good stuff, especially with some overclocking thrown in.

As for the build, I only take issue w/ 2 parts:

RAM: Why 4 x 4GB vs. 2 x 8GB? Power Supply: I know the AMD CPU's need more power, but the GTX 970 is pretty efficient, so why the need for an 850 watt power supply?

i cannot agree more with your amd cpu statement and i hate when people just call you a fanboy when try to defend them.

im going to guess his reasoning on the 850 psu is for when he adds water cooling to the build maybe wrong tho.

and the ram he probably got it cheaper then it listed at

I am adding water cooling eventually and overclocking, hence the 850 gold. I also plan to get another GTX970 graphics card.

The ram is something I've had in my old machine for a while and I didn't want to replace it yet without knowing exactly what I needed

I think there must be a mistake on my link then, I only have one GTX 970

plus I'm a fan of the overclocking amd

actually the price to performance is on AMD's side but the intel will save you money overtime because they don't need to run on high power and they are very power efficient but this cpu and any i5 will game almost exactly the same
