Description

So it's been just over a year since I've built this machine and it's already on what I like to call Version 2.0.0 as I've made frequent upgrades to this system; both major and not. This machine is strictly the transfer from a dying Alienware 17 from 2014 to a more upgradable and expandable ecosystem. It's used as both a gaming/content creation system which is the reason I've started upgrading my setup to a more content creator-esque one. Below I will leave links to the original parts list and include pictures of the setup as it evolved throughout the past year. I've got big plans for this system as it helps me grow my YouTube career (link below).

One great example of an upgrade that I've made was the GTX 1080 that replaced my GTX 960. This was for two reasons; one, I was trying to push a GTX 960 to run nearly 4K resolution and two, I just had my birthday when the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 were announced, so how could I pass up on the bandwagon? The reason that I was trying to push a GTX 960 to run 3440x1440 resolution was because I was a recipient of an LG 34UC87C Ultrawide Monitor as a part of Ultrawide Festival 2015. I couldn't be happier to receive such an honor and now I can use the monitor to its full potential.

My next upgrade will be a switch to either Intel's recent Kaby Lake lineup with a Core i7-7700K, ASUS Maximus IX Formula, and 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB, or their future Cannonlake platform which will see a large jump in performance due to a 10nm die shrink. Such CPU would probably be called the Core i7-8700K or something along those lines, but that's just a goal I'm hoping to catch up to. One of the best parts about having a custom PC is that you can make it whatever you want it to be, and with a constantly improving set of components, the ability to build your passion forever which is exactly what I've done with this system. Once I get the boom arm for my microphone which is currently shipping as I write this, I will have updated pictures with the microphone hooked up.

This PC was actually created with a group of friends as they all purchased their parts along side of me. I have posted the video on YouTube as well as its sequel 6 months later. I will also be posting the third rendition of PC building within the weekend, so stay tuned for that as well.

Totally. I went from my 17" laptop to those dual monitors because my dad's office had received new ones so they were just throwing those away. At the time I hadn't even thought about what I'd upgrade to so when I saw that this $1,000 beast was being given away I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

Love the Razer-Green theme. I came real close to going with the NZXT H440 Razer edition case before decided I wanted my build inspired from my Mustang. I bet that monitor is sick too! That's my next purchase.

I was thinking about going with the H440 back when the original black and green one was still available but figured if I was going to have glowing green LED fans I'd actually want to see them through the front. Also the monitor was a gift from LG themselves after being selected as a semi-finalist for a contest back in 2015. I'm still grateful to this day!
