Description

I have been using a MacBook Pro for the last ten years and have spent less than 10 hours on a PC. So, I decided the best way to get back into the PC side of things ,was to jump into the deep end!

I had a lot of questions , but received a ton of help from r/buildapc and a multitude of YouTube vids.

I plan on getting some custom CableMod PSU cables in Black/White or all white. I do not like how the stock PSU cables look.

Let me know what ya think!

Part Reviews

CPU

I am able to get a stable 4.1Ghz OC with a max temp of 75C. I did reach 4.25Ghz but was not ok with idle temps fluctuating by 15+C

CPU Cooler

Cooler performs well and was relatively easy to install. Corsair's iCue software did not want to work with my Mobo + Ram for the first month or so I built my system. Once a new update was released for iCue, most of my lighting sync issues were solved.

Motherboard

No issues here. I appreciate all the USB ports , temps are great, and provides sufficient power to the CPU

Memory

Its RGB Ram, what can I say? It runs at 3200 Mhz and has a buncha colors. 5 stars

Video Card

I found this from r/buildapcsales for 684$ with 2 free games. I have a mild overclock of +145 on the base clock and +840 on memory

Case

Case is great, fan/RGB controller and software blows, I ripped out the controller and RGB strip.

Case Fan

Love the fans, but the lighting node pro is a real POS. I ended up buying the commander pro so everything (RGB) would play nice together. The extra USB 2.0 and fan headers are helpful

Monitor

My first real gaming monitor, 144hz is buttery smooth.

Headphones

I plan on getting a white one for my computer , this headset is also my Xbox One headset. I love the passive EQ levels, once I turn the headset on, I had to dial in my own specific mix.

RAM arrives today. will update with pics once mail comes. The only all white Mobos I found were not as feature packed as the CrosshairVII Hero, so I chose this one.

A white mb isn't a big deal but you could always use some plastidip spray paint in the future if it matters to you

I like the build and component selection. I think some black and white power supply extension cables would look great as well down the line but great job.

Thanks! I really wanted to get a custom set of cablemods earlier, but I could not justify spending $200+ on something that gave zero performance increase.

A custom set of cablemods does not cost $200+. I paid $45.00 for mine on Ebay, brand new. The most I've ever seen them for was $90.00. You could also just get the extension cables that are cheaper. Also, might look better if you flipped your radiator, so that the cables from the pump are at the top instead of the bottom. Overall, nice build.

Every time I put together a set in CableMod's Config, the price is ALWAYS above $160. I want to flip the rad, but I would have to rotate fans as well, so I am waiting to do that until I get some Custom CableMod Pros

Beautiful build. The CPU cooler was recalled if you didn't know already. Only Lot code: 1852 was affected. You're fine if you don't have that lot otherwise. I just sent mine in, I'm on boring ole stock cooler for time being =(

Mine is affected too :-( I am returning the cooler this week, so hopefully we get to keep our LL fans and get 2 extras for the hassle. I will install the radiator the opposite way this time so the ram can be see more easily.

Will the processor bottleneck the gpu?

I'm trying to decide between 1 and 3ms monitors, both va panels. Is it worth a bit more $ for the faster response times?

I was not used to playing on pc monitors before this one. I would play console on my 65"LG sk9000. I do love my 1ms . I just ordered another monitor, yolo.

lol personal preference. I hate when I hear another player clicking away, so if I were to go with another switch , I'd probably go with MX Browns
