Here is my Red PC build updated with an RX 580 that I was able to track down for a reasonable price. I was going to build myself an economy gaming computer until my wife convinced me to buy the fanicer stuff and it make it pretty with a red and black theme. (What a great wife, eh?)
Wanting to be able to play modern games, I opted for the Ryzen 5 1500X since it was $70 less expensive than a 1600 at the time and I don't need 6cores/12threads. It is an excellent CPU that stays cool and performs flawlessly.
The case was a splurge for me, but well worth the coin. Easy to work in, beautiful to view, and plenty of features.
Total cost before shipping & taxes: $1400 CAD
Although I considered a 1600 or 1600x, I decided on this R5 1500x based on a $70 price difference at the time of purchase, since I simply didn't need 6core/12thread. The stock clock is performing excellently and breezes through multitasking and gaming. 5/5
I decided on this motherboard primarily because of its styling, but also for the spacious placement of the components, plentiful USB connectors, and future ability to upgrade. The BIOS is stylish and easy to use, although I had to update it for it to properly acknowledge my Team Dark RAM and run it at a full 2933mhz instead of the stock ~2100mhz. 5/5.
I bought the red version of this RAM and the styling is perfect for my build. The 3000 speed should also be nice for an R5 1500x! 5/5
This price point was a little high compared to similar SSDs, but the styling matches my particular case well. I'm enjoying my fast boot time! 5/5
Excellent! With the 1411 mhz factory overclock, I get a cool 90 fps on BF1 at ultra settings 1080p- just what I wanted for this price range! It was difficult to find this card for a decent price since the mining craze, but well worth the wait. 5/5
I am very pleased with this case. The tempered glass feature has elegance with its black trim that matches well with the flat-black front. The interior was easy to work with and made cable management as well as component installation a joy. There were some negatives in my case such as flimsy cable-managent clips, and a 1mm misaligned usb/audio front panel, but these are forgivable as the finish of the entire case is marvelous. 5/5
This Power Supply Unit has fewer cable options than I would have wanted, but enough connectors to make a modest build like mine work flawlessly. 5/5
They blow air and look cool in Red! The rubber anti-vibration mounts are also a nice touch.
Other than my regrets of not having a numpad, I really enjoy this keyboard. It is a loud clicky, but positive-feeling keyboard that has good backlighting and a cool keycap font! The rainbow version of the board is not colour-customizable, which was disappointing at first, but now appeals to my eyes once on my desk. 4/5.
Excellent mouse, feels smooth, good scroll wheel, and I like the two side buttons. However, the rgb software was too in-depth- I only did a basic customization. Still- 5/5!
